Dr. Christie Heikes, MD

Focus seemed to be on spending as little time as possible. Really disappointing. No time provided to ask questions or discuss options or discuss potential follow up.

Dr. Heikes appears to have very little empathy and entirely poor delivery skills around upsetting news. Did not explain well and was very condescending. She was not in the room for more than 7 minutes, and I left with so many questions unanswered. She walked out of the exam room holding her laptop and stood in the hallway (I don't think you can display more disinterested body language than that!), leaving me to ask questions with the door wide open and totally lacking privacy. I then stopped and left. What she wanted, obviously.

Dr. Heikes is a highly skilled surgeon. She operated on my knee over 10 years ago. Before the surgery, I could hardly go up steps or walk without pain. After the surgery, I returned to competition (Powerlifting). I've had no pain, no setbacks and am now approaching a world record I set in my 20s. She listens, she explains everything in detail, she is professional, and extremely intelligent.

They were professional, complete and detailed information, great follow up care.

Horrible patient experience with this doctor and her team. Dismissive, no introduction or any sort of patient-trust established. Patient was in excruciating pain when directing her aide to do a jarring (first big change in care with a massive injury) task while doctor rattled on prognosis, fully aware that the patient was not able to process information. Left as quickly as possible, as soon as “her job was done,” and did not care to fully answer questions or explain prognosis when asked, and said “aides can answer questions” and they couldn’t. Said they would ask doctor and get back to this patient. Never did. Called with follow up questions twice, an aide called me back once and said they couldn’t answer my questions. Disappointing, painful, and borderline negligent experience. Glad I found another surgeon.

Dr. Heikes was awesome. She did a complete work up and spent time discussing treatment options. Knowledgeable and compassionate.

My opinion of Dr. Heikes has dropped. I chose her for her caring and compassion. I gave her a stellar review in 2019 but 3+ months post surgery, care dropped. Pain in my surgical knee is persistent. A virtual visit in April 2020 left me frustrated. I was told I was working too hard and not sitting around playing cards (I was 56 teaching cycle, yoga and weight lifting classes). I found coordination of care between PT and surgeon does not exist. In August 2021 an in person visit with Dr. Heikes took place. She stated her work was "beauteous". Acknowledgement of my discomfort was stated as my not working hard enough and getting older; making it harder to build muscle. Never once asked what I was doing or did a hands on assessment. It's true am older, but I'm actually stronger. Had an assessment with a different provider. His findings - laxity in the joint & scar tissue behind the knee. His recommendation - see original surgeon, PT, revision. UGH! PT will be done outside of TCO!

Dr. Heikes had energy, empathy, was interested in me and really keyed in on what was needed. Could have spent an hour with her. I really trust her. Her PA, Megan is incredible too. Highly recommend them.

I had a remarkable experience at Twin Cities Orthopedics getting wonderful treatment from all the staff. Specially, my visit with Dr Christie Heikes was most satisfying. She expertly examined and skillfully diagnosed my knee problems. She clearly explained to me the disease and laid out a treatment plan. Very professional , courteous and empathetic. Very impressed with her high degree of knowledge, experience and great credentials as a top notch orthopedic surgeon in the twin cities areas. Many Thanks.

My family has gone to Dr. Heikes for varying ailments. She has seen my daughter for knee and ankle issues, and has also helped me with ankle and shoulder. Every time we have met with her and her staff, they have been prompt, friendly and more than helpful. Dr. Heikes is able to explain in a way that anyone can understand the issues that my daughter and I were dealing with, and the plan she advises we follow to treat our injuries. My daughter has seen great results, and my own recovery has been great - although harder because I'm an ageing athlete! I would recommend Dr. Heikes to anyone looking for a thorough treatment - from diagnosis to "back to play".

Had a video call on 4/7/2020 about right wrist pain & clicking. Dr. Heikes said it was De-Quervain's Tenosynovitis. After a few weeks of icing 2x/day and keeping hand/wrist in a brace, I had marginal improvement and relief. She gave me a shot in the wrist on 5/19 that began working in a few days. I'm 90% recovered. Thanks much Dr. Heikes!!

I’ve seen Dr. hikers about 10 times over the last three years. She has performed two surgeries. I have recommended her to a number of people and would do so again

Awesome! Dr. Heikes is extremely efficient. She listened to my issues and helped me return ASAP to the tennis courts. Ive had successful office consults, procedures, and surgery from her. I will continue to seek her excellence. Thank you Doc!

Over the past few years, my right knee was deteriorating from Osteo-Arthritis. Two years ago I began seeing Dr. Christie Heikes for knee injections. Her Physician Assistant, Katie, coached and comforted me through all of the injections. Dr, Heikes listened to me attentively, provided me with a total knee replacement when I was ready, visited me in the hospital more than once, honored all of my wishes, and restored full use of my knee!
