Frustrating
Bad experience. After several years of being treated for my Crohn's and IBS , my symptoms gradually worsened and he doesn't listen to my concerns. Makes me feel like I don't know what I'm talking about. Time for a second opinion. 2 years is too long to wait.

  • Staff friendliness
  • Appointment wasn't rushed
  • Wait times
What could be improved
  • I didn't feel respected

  • Didn't explain conditions well

Very bad experience
Very bad experience. Long story short, my husband had severe gastro/abdominal pain amongst numerous other symptoms (dizzy, chills, vago-vasal response, etc.) and this DR kept pushing biologics when it turns out he never had Crohn's to begin with. After 2 biologics didn't work at all (just made symptoms worse) he kept telling him in was in his head then tried to push SSRIs - nope. He had an endoscopy which showed redness and mild inflammation and we were told he must have had an ulcer but its heeling now. This should have been further researched and looked into. It wasn't. He also kept telling us diet didn't matter which blows my mind! SCD helped 90% symptoms for years. We finally switched Gastros and had 2 new doctors look at his endoscopy from a few years ago. They both suggested a hida scan-which we recently did-and found out his bladder is producing too much bile. This could have been caught years ago.I recently learned about a breath test for SIBO, how was this never suggested!

I would not recommend Dr. Chen. He is unprofessional and spoke poorly of other doctors. I felt harshly judged by him. Chen refused to answer a few of my questions and referred to them as a “debate” when I merely wanted a better understanding. Is staff also spoke poorly of other doctors. I found the entire episode to be unprofessional and stress inducing.
