First office visit with Dr. Waters.
Has our first visit with Dr. Waters today. My husband was diagnosed with Parkinsons. Saw three neurologists, one who prescribed an unnecessary medication. I felt she was thorough, to the point and listened to what we had to say. I did not think she was rude or lacked compassion. We will continue to see Dr. Waters for my husbands care.

She was pleasant and understanding.
I was very concerned about Parkinson's as, genetically, it is in my family. She was extremely knowledgeable and supportive. I would highly recommend Dr. Waters.

I was puzzled by our first visit with Dr Waters, unsure whether we'd made the right choice in a Parkinson's neurologist. When I mentioned this at my next Parkinson's Caregivers support group, 3 people out of the 7 there immediately said, 'She's the worst.' They all confirmed what my misgivings had been and one related that she had fired them as a patient. And now I find we are on that list as well. Dr Waters is quite judgmental, never wrong in them, not really available as a caring physician. We had one in-person visit, one video visit, and intermittent communication within a 3-month period.

She lacks compassion. She is insensitive and rude. Although. she is considered a highly regarded doctor, I'm going to find a doctor who cares about me and demonstrates she understands how PD affects me.

NEUROLOGIST AND MOVEMENT DISORDER SPECIALIST.
I saw Dr. Waters on two occasions, having been referred to her by another doctor that I see. I went to her because after a six-day stay in a hospital (after after falling) a previous doctor said I had "Parkinson's Disease". I had one fall in 12/21 in Florida and another sudden fall in 6/22. Dr. W. described as a MOVEMENT SPECIALIST did some tests on me and said she felt that I didn't have P.D. and that I suffered from a GAIT PROBLEM. She decreased my 3 tablets per day of Rx. to two tablets and suggested I attend Physical Therapy sessions, which I have done. On my return visit on 11/28, we chatted and she decreased my Rx. to one tablet per day. I was not given a return appt. I have attempted to reach Dr. W's Tarrytown office by phone - IMPOSSIBLE, and I have left messages. (1) I'd like to know if I will have a return appt. (2) Why is it that CVS Rx. continues to fill by prescriptions under the previous doctor's name. I sent her a letter to the Tarrytown Office two weeks ago and

Absolute rudest dr.. Awful listener, she’s caught up typing her notes while you speak. Doesn’t want to be bothered helping you, just scolding the patient.

Dr Waters is the rudest Dr I have ever encountered. As a nurse myself I was shocked by the way she treated my mother. Not only did she belittle my mom and make her think she was mentally not stable. Dr Waters bluntly came out and said go back to your neurologist I will not treat you. I was under the impression that as a physician you should want and make a positive impact. I did my research and took my mother who has Parkinson’s disease to see her. She lacks the ability to communicate compassionately with her patients. It’s disgraceful that Columbia would allow this physician to work for them. Trust me don’t waste your time look for another neurologist. If I could I would have given her zero stars.

"Why did you come Manhattan?" That's how she coldly welcomed upon mentioning that we live in Queens! Her response to a specific Parkinson's related question was to shrug her shoulders and say, "I don't know to treat that." Incredulous, I asked her again, she got testy and snapped, "I already told you, "I don't know!" When I asked her if we should make a follow-up appointment, her response was "if you want to." I've never encountered anything like this! There was no attempt to ask for my mother's medical records and she didn't suggest any tests to get to the bottom of the problem. In fact, when I told her about other tests other specialists had suggested, she was totally dismissive. In other words, she was either incapable or unwilling to suggest a mode of treatment or another specialist that might help since she evidently was unable to. I literally took a day off from work and paid for a consultation to have doctor be cold, rude, dismissive and to tell me I don't know!

I wish I could give her zero stars. She misdiagnosed me, put me on a ridiculously high dose of a medication, and then blamed the side effects of said medication on a potential psychiatric disorder. She has very poor listening skills, which I attribute to her arrogance. I don’t recommend going to her at all, but if you have already, please get a second opinion. In addition to her poor medical skills, her bedside manner, and communication skills are quite horrendous as well.

She has the worst bedside manner. She has no filter what is appropriate to say to encourage a patient. She is all about tooting her own horn. What a head case. She should go to a school for manners and repeat every course.

Prior to my ever seeing Dr. Waters I was experiencing severe intestinal problems which my gastroenterologist could not determine the cause despite undergoing numerous testing. During my first appointment with Dr. Waters she immediately diagnosed the problem and upon following her direction, the problem was resolved within a short period of time. So grateful for accurate diagnosis. Great doctor.

Dr. Waters has been amazing. My husband has early onset Parkinson's and has been receiving fantastic care from Dr. Waters. He has never felt better. She is on the cutting edge of research and has real time knowledge of up and coming treatments in the Parkinson's community. She is approachable, compassionate and confident ~ all the traits you want in a physician. We couldn't be in better hands & highly recommend!

Dr. Waters belongs in a lab, not with patients. She lacks the ability to communicate compassionately with her patients. She does not listen well, does not give full engagement and frankly is rude. Not the type of thing one is looking for when very sick with Parkinson's disease. Very disappointing experience.
