Terrible Doctor & VA System
My initial scheduled visit with Dr. Monteiro was horrible. She did not show up (on vacation and NO ONE from the VA informed me). I waited 2 months for this appointment. I was handed off to an NP who did not listen to my concerns. Approved medication that I did not need… and had me reschedule an appointment a month out to meet with Dr. Monteiro. Showed up today, Dr. Monteiro was not there again. I was handed off again to the same NP where again, the concerns I had… i never got to ask questions. This country wonders why Veteran suicide rates are high. Two perfect examples.

Veterans deserve better than this!
Dr Montiero does not report information on patients’ health concerns raised during appointments. Dr Montiero does not say what treatment options patients have available, and she prescribes medication without discussion with patients, and has even prescribed drugs that are listed in the medical record of a patient as causing allergic reactions. Dr Montiero has access to veterans’ complete electronic medical records, but finds it inconvenient to familiarize herself with a patient’s health history or the diagnostic efforts already conducted by VA itself. Dr Montiero’s conduct and professionalism is so horrible that I believe there are actions being taken right now to remove as a provider within the VA Healthcare System. I would not recommend Dr Montiero to any patient, and if she is still allowed to practice medicine at all, I would find that dangerous.
