Dr. Charlotte Kastl, MD

This is my first time ever leaving a review for a medical professional or medical practice. Like many other reviewers mention, Dr. Kastl was very quick to recommend prescription medication WITHOUT ever mentioning the possible side effects associated with the medication.Dr. Kastl later became extremely dismissive and condescending towards me when I told her I simply did not feel comfortable. She even logged out of her computer while I was in the middle of explaining my concerns. She told me point blank, that she could not do anything to help me other than to “increase my dosage.”Like many other online reviewers mention, the entire experience left me rattled… and frankly, alarmed. I still don’t fully understand why I was criticized and talked down to for wanting to take a more holistic approach first. Instead, it felt like the doctors at Inova Neurology were handing out prescription drugs like candy. It makes you wonder, what's in it for them? Clearly NOT patient care.

It was one of the worst experiences with Dr. Charlotte. I am repeatedly stating I have migraine and medications side effects. She is refusing to accept that my medication is even causing any side effects. Instead, she is forcing me to believe I have stress, which is causing other symptoms to me. If she believes it's stress, why am I being prescribed medications for headaches. Which basically means I am being misdiagnosed. I don't know why she has been acting up and rude lately. My first visit was okay with this doc. But later visits have been terrible. I think she needs to hear more about patient real-life issues with side effects of medications and try to diagnose the correct issue. She basically laughed when I mentioned that it feels like my body is disabled with all the medications and their significant side effects. Just absolutely absurd and sick for the doctor to smile when the patient is suffering from significant health problems. I would not recommend her office.

Dr. Kastl listened to my medical history with compassion and sought both the relieve my pain and find its root cause. Highly recommend.

If you're a military veteran, do not seek assistance from Dr. Kastl with your VA disability claim. I visited Dr. Kastl to get an opinion letter for a VA disability claim after a denial. She was very quick to tell me "no" and was tense for the duration of the appointment. She did not review my VA records or military service records. After the appointment, she wrote in her treatment notes that VA's stated reason for the denial was "of note" and inaccurately described my condition. She basically wrote an opinion against my claim (VA has access to these treatment notes).

She didn't listen to me at all about my medication, and prescribed one I said I couldn't take, wrote poor notes that were confusing to the hospital system. And she got obstinate when I tried to talk to her about it.

Seen promptly and she was able to recommend an alternative headache medicine that eased my headaches after the one my previous doctor gave me didn’t work. Her staff was very helpful. I will see her again in a few months.

Kastl was condensing, dismissive, and incredibly unhelpful. She didn't listen to my concerns and simply wanted to provide scripts. Overall a disheartening and frustrating experience

I felt she doesn’t take time with patient or listen to patient about symptoms. Assumed from start that memory, spine and incontinence due to stress. Felt dismissed and talked down to. Didn’t even bother to read paperwork.
