Valve replacement bad experience
Referred for mitral valve replacement. Tried to push surgery. Was not aware of my medical tests( echo, TEE, etc. ) deferred to his PA to know records despite being confident that surgery was needed. Defensive when asked how not reviewing records affected his recommendation for surgery. Neither he or the PA had reviewed records. Second opinion with experienced valve surgeon resulted in monitoring with my regular cardiologist and deferring surgery until cardiac function changes. Pretty unprofessional. At least he didn’t feign speaking Spanish.

Dr. Elkins performed a lung lobectomy on me and did an excellent job. He was very straightforward about what surgery would entail and probable pain levels. He answered my multitude of questions and somehow managed to neither sugarcoat the situation or make me fearful. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Elkins was on call one night. I had a concern after getting home from heart surgery. Called him multiple times. When he finally answered the call he faked speaking in Spanish (really bad spanish) and hung up. I then left a message with my concern. Apparently it got his attention because he immediately called back. He then was very hateful and short. Then I quote said, "It's almost 10 at night what do you want me to do, put some Neosporin on it." Keep in mind it was an internal problem.

Dr Elkins performed a maze ablation on me in January. I’ve never felt better in my life. Everything he and his staff said would happen has happened. Man of his word. Owe my life to this man.

Dr. Elkins saved my life in 2011 as he removed part of my right lung as I had lung cancer and I didn't have to have chemo and five years later I am still in remission. He is the greatest Doctor and I think integris is the best hospital.
