Unfortunately my experience with Dr.Karam was dismissive, and his testing technique inaccurate. I had an expert go over my results from Dr.Karam’s tests and he was shocked. My first test actually was a borderline abnormal instead of negative & could have been a positive if his preconceived idea of my diagnosis didn’t interfere with his tests. The second was done with medication on board that would interfere with the test. I told him I had taken it, he didn’t care. He said it didn’t matter because I didn’t have the disease. I had lost my diagnosis and treatment after that. I had to travel across the country to see one of the top exerts in my disease. Thankfully I found a local doctor to work with the expert and resume treatment so I can continue to improve and hopefully return to work.

After trying to get treatment for myasthenia gravis in Spokane WA for 4 months, without success, I drove to O.H.S.U. in Portland, OR. Dr. Karam has been a wonderful doctor, with a dry sense of humor that some people may not always understand. I have worked in the health care field for over 15 years myself and do not trust doctors because of prior experience. I trust Dr. Karam and have found him to be caring and attentive to detail. He listens and remembers what I say. I trust him implicitly.

He saw me for at most 10 minutes. Did not care that I have had a diagnosis for 8 years of upper motor neuron disease. He changed my diagnosis for no reason. He refused to have any kind of dialogue about it or acknowledge if he'd reviewed my 9 years' worth of medical records. He is arrogant and unable to establish a doctor-patient rapport. He thinks he knows everything. His ego prevents him from being anything near a good doctor. I don't care how smart he is he has no people skills.

He competely dismissed me when I told him about how my problem is getting worse. Told me not to close my eyes when I'm standing, chuckled and walked out.
