Helped save my life.
I had a complicated history of carotid dissections and TIAs while living in a different state. I traveled to NYU Langone from Florida to see Dr. Zhang, who immediately saw that I needed surgery to fix a faulty stent in a carotid that was causing reduced bloodflow and referred me to Dr. Nossek in Neurosurgery. I had many failed appointments prior to this in my homestate who essentially said 'let's wait and see' while I continued to have TIAs. Dr. Zhang listened to me intently for the entire appointment length, wrote a detailed note, and had a plan for me to follow quickly and for the first time in several months I actually had hope of being fixed. I've since had the intervention (EC-IC bypass) and am now recovering thanks to Dr. Zhang, Dr. Nossek and the team at NYU Langone. I honestly can't say enough good things about Dr. Zhang and the team, and ultimately there is a reason NYU Langone is number one in the country. I am indebted to Dr. Zhang and Dr. Nossek for helping me so much.
