Never Saw Her
It took 2 months to get an appointment with this office. It's a 2 hour drive for me to see her. I called the day before my appt. asked if there was any information I needed to bring, ie: medical records, test results..... I was told no. I get there and they (the front desk people) refuse to let me see her. They said I needed a disk of my test so she could see it. I told them I called yesterday but they didn't want to hear anything about that. I know nothing about this Dr., but her staff needs to be fired! They asked if I wanted to talk to the ofc mgr, I said unless she can get me to the Dr. why should I waste my breath. 2 hour drive home. Wasted an entire day!!! NEVER EVER GO TO THIS OFFICE

She's the best!
Dr. Nelson sees the person, not just the patient. She's not just an outstanding surgeon, she's an expert who focuses on the person. What may be ‘standard of care’ for a particular condition, she understands and accepts and adapts based on the uniqueness of each person. I cannot recommend her more highly. BTW, as soon as I said her name to my oncologist, radiologist, and various service providers, they went out of the way to praise her and her skills. Two said she is who they would choose for their wives and daughters. To repeat, “she's the best.”

Excellent surgeon
I suffered a complete small intestine blockage which was extremely painful. I went to The Villages hospital emergency room where the condition was quickly diagnosed. Dr. Nelson was assigned to my case. I am so fortunate to have had her as my surgeon. She removed the adhesion from my small intestine. She's a very competent surgeon and a great communicator. Dr. Nelson will definitely be the surgeon of choice for my wife and me in the future.

just try to get an appointment with her. Fat chance. I have invasive breast cancer and urgently need a lumpectomy but she is busy taking days off and yet unable to make an appt for 3 months. Her office staff took all my info but are apparently unaware she is not taking new patients til months in advance.

My experience with Dr. Nelson was a very good one.. I was told why my operation was required, what and how it would be done. As the operation went as expected, the follow-up was just to answer any questions that I had about the process and what I should be doing during recovery.

I was very lucky to get dr Nelson on an emergency surgery of perforated bowel diverticulosis at the villages emergency room. She is absolutely the very best surgeon for this specific case.

I had breast cancer. Dr. Nelson inserted my port for chemo. It went well. But when we discussed my mastectomy & removal of lymph nodes she said she would do a complete axillary dissection (remove ALL lymph nodes though cancer was detected in only 3). Why not do a sentinel dissection (remove only affected nodes)? Her answer was it's the best standard procedure. No, it's worst & increases lymphedema. I got a 2nd opinion. The new surgeon did sentinel dissection without me even asking. THAT'S best.
