Dr. Cecylia Nowakowska, MD

Dr. Nowakowska continually refused to address my concerns about symptoms that bothered me, and instead would bring up my caffeine intake (which was unrelated to any of my symptoms, moderate, and not at all concern of mine) every single appointment. She refused to refer me for the testing I needed until my therapist and I demanded it. She did not communicate well with my therapist, to the point where my therapist gave me a diagnosis and Dr. Nowakowska didn't know about it, and then denied that my therapist had given me that diagnosis when I brought it up. She told me it wasn't possible to have concurrent diagnoses for two disorders that commonly co-occur. Because of her, it took me an extra six months to receive treatment (four months of trying to get her to listen + two months of waiting for an intake appointment with a new psychiatrist) despite my self-advocacy, which severely negatively impacted my life. I'd give her 0 stars if I could.

I regret that I didn’t google her name before seeing her. Waste of my time and money seeing her. Just look at all these bad reviews, one point seven or two point two out of five points on different websites. I really want to question her qualifications. Psychology is a relatively new field compare to other science and lots of things change everyday because new studies will be done and old theories might be overthrown quickly. I am curious is she really has been updating her knowledge to keep up with the latest findings? As others mentioned, she probably doesn’t have accurate diagnosis and sounds assertive and just not feels right.

Terrible and makes errors. Never going back

I have been a patient of Dr. Nowakowska's for many years. She is non-judgemental, solution oriented, and always takes the time to answer any questions I might have. She takes into account my concerns, whether that be regarding how sessions are going or what medications I should or should not be on. Under Dr. Nowakowska's care, I have been free from any major, long lasting depressive episodes for 10+ years, whereas before seeing her, I was suffering one at least every year.

Dr. Nowakowska is an excellent psychiatrist. I've been seeing her for over eight years. She has been able to find the right combination of medication for me. As a result, I have not been in the hospital since I have been seeing her. She is warm and empathetic. If I need more time, she has been generous and allowed a longer visit. She has taught me coping skills so that I have been able to stop taking some medications and lower the doses on others. I wholeheartedly recommend her.

She is experienced but over-medicates. Never going back to her again.
