Worthless, like this whole hospital
I HATE that we live so close to St. Joseph's N. My grandmother has been taken here 4x in the last 16 mos, but Dr. Nan is why this time is the absolute worst. Background: My grandmother is 90 and speaks little English (we are Cuban). She has had several health issues recently, and we have NEVER had or even seen a single nurse, Dr, or CNA that speaks Spanish here - IN FLORIDA! Staff tell us nothing or 'don't know' when we ask about her status. They also refuse to let us look at her chart or med report until after discharge. The Review: Every time she ends up here it is a nightmare, but this recent stay is by far the worst bc of Dr. Nan. She changed her diabetes meds for no reason (she is here for a UTI!), and now it is so out of control that we are very worried since they wont change back or do anything about it. Dr. Nan is now pushing to get her out and into a temp rehab, but won't elaborate why or what the care plan would even be. Conclusion: I am considering a formal complaint.

I was assigned to her care after being admitted via St. Joe's North ER as she was the Hospitalist on duty that night. She is the most unprofessional MD I have ever had the misfortune of being "stuck" with as the hospital would not re-assign her. She is argumentative to the point of being belligerent and disrespectful to me and my family. Obviously has poorly controlled anger management issues. Did not take 5 minutes reviewing my chart before seeing me and therefore was ill-informed. Her being there and the practice of not allowing their patients the right to choose a different provider diminished the otherwise good reputation of this hospital.

Lacking Insight, Unprofessional Hospitalist
My father is currently under Dr. Nan's care at St.Joseph's Hospital. She is beyond rude, has zero kindness or compassion and is lacking insight. As a doctor myself I am astonished with the care he is and has received. She was unable to answer a simple question, why are you giving my father this particular IV Antibiotic? Her answer: I don't know. How can you not know why you are infusing an Abx? Especially when it is not indicated (in MRSA cellulitis & MRSA bacteremia). She yelled at my mother, dismissed her questions about my father's clinic care and did not allow for any participation in decisions involving his care, treatment and services (all patient's rights). She continually is pushing for early discharge on oral Abx (that she knows my father cannot tolerate) and is NOT providing standard or care for him given MRSA bacteremia, his age & comorbidities. Lastly she would not allow our vascular surgeon to see my father in the hospital for the several occlusive blood clots!

Not a nice person!!! She said my mother was old and frail and not doing well which is a total lie!!! She also sent my mother to the wrong rehab center, to which I did not approve of!!! She also blamed the transportation team of sending her to the wrong rehab center. Um B.S., Dr nan is not a nice person at all!!! Get another Dr. to see over the well being of your loved one!!!
