Top NPH neurosurgeon for adults in DC area
After a lot of research, I found Dr. Sanchez. My neurologist thought I needed a VP shunt for normal pressure hydrocephalus. Dr. Sanchez was recommended by a neurosurgeon friend of mine, given Dr. Sanchez was a pediatric neurosurgeon earlier in his career, and that showed. He was very thorough, very thoughtful, and got me through the surgery without any issues. You will not find another neurosurgeon that is as invested in your health. Would recommend without reservation.

great communicator, chiari pain is gone
very happy with surgery and interactions with Dr. Sanchez, very professional, thoughtful, kind, caring. He’s kind of a pediatric neurosurgeon in an adult practice, and it shows, very good.

Kindest Doctor I ever met and tumor is “all out”!!
The last news I wanted to hear was a metastatic brain tumor. Dr. Sanchez came highly recommended by my primary care and I have to say, I have never met a kinder physician. My tumor is out, I am back in treatment, and I couldn’t speak highly enough of him. Having an ally that can truly carrying you through an ordeal like this is so important.

helped me with IIH even if didn’t need surgery
I didn’t know where to start with my IIH that my primary doc diagnoses. Dr. Sanchez was very helpful in helping me get appointments with an eye doctor and neurology doc to start medicine. He didn’t think I needed surgery but he took a long time explaining what I have and helped me find the right doc to help. I was surprised how nice he was, even if I didn’t need actual surgery.

great bedside manner, fixed Chiari
This was my third neurosurgeon I saw for my Chiari, the first two wanted to operate but didn’t explain well on why. Dr. Sanchez was very patient, in explaining to me, and my family, on why surgery may help. I was very grateful I tried a third person, as his care, and those of his trainees, was excellent. He gave me his cell phone number, never seen that before.

Saved me, took my tumor out when others gave up
I originally went to Hopkins where they told me I had an inoperable tumor. I live in DC and didn’t want to give up on life with just a biopsy, so I prayed and sought a second doc. Dr. Sanchez told me surgery was risky but worth giving a shot. He was very caring, and got me through this surgery, without any changes to my speech or strength. I am starting chemo now with just a small spot of tumor remaining, praise the Lord!

Reccommended Pediatric Neurosurgery too high risk
He reccomended my 6yo son get neurosurgery based on a cyst found on an MRI for another reason and other records from when my son was younger. He told me that he consulted with his Chief and Vice Chief of Neurosurgery. He left Children's Hospital for reasons unknown and so we went to the Chief of the Department who said he would not take the risk of this surgery and very often these cysts do not grow. Thus far it has not now for years. Dr. Sanchez stated that it was either now or in the future we would need to get the surgery. It took me months to recover from realizing that he porly recommended the brain surgery and clearly never consulted with his Chief even though he stated as much. I'm thankful that we did not cut open my son's head because he didn't consult with Doctor's more experienced than him.
