Dear Dr. Mahan, Thank you so much for saving my husband's life. He had a 29 year old mechanical heart valve which was failing due to life-threatening endocarditis, and you performed life-saving open-heart surgery to clear out the infection and replace his previous mechanical aortic valve with a bio-prosthetic valve. Two years later he is not only still alive today but is highly energetic, thriving and walking 4 miles a day, approximately 14-15 minutes per mile at the age of 68. He and I will always be so grateful to you. We highly recommend Dr. Mahan and the excellent staff at Boulder Heart!

I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Mahan. He most literally saved my life and I will forever be grateful to have been treated by him and his staff. I was a patient of Dr. Mahan during a very difficult period in my life and the care he and his team showed me are the reason that I am thriving today. He performed two life-saving heart surgeries on me and he is the reason that I am able to write this review today. Without his compassion and care, I would not be alive today. He gave me a second chance at life and I will forever be grateful for him. Thank you, Doctor. You are in my heart always and are the reason I have shifted my path in life and am in school to become a medical professional as well.

Dr. Mahan is simply the best. he saved the life of both myself and my dad. I have never given a review for a medical provider before however if anybody deserves it he does. You’re in great hands with Dr. Mahan if you are in the boulder area and in a circumstance where heart surgery is necessary he is the person to see.

With no notice, spent 7 hours by saving my father's life (aortic dissection followed by burst aorta). Visited dad regularly in ICU, and other venues. He kept detailed notes and advised staff to follow orders particular to dad's condition. I particularly appreciated his no BS approach, which meant that he articulated both positive and potentially negative future outcomes and never promised any rosy outcomes. One month later, Dad is walking, talking, and headed towards a full recovery.
