I do not recommend this Doctor
On July 22, 2024, I was scheduled for an induction at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Merritt was the attending physician, with Dr. Akin and Dr. Ball as residents. After the induction began with a Foley balloon, they claimed our son’s heart rate was dropping, though they weren’t sure if the fetal monitor was malfunctioning. A C-section was recommended, and we consented after one resident admitted the machine might be faulty, but they still pushed for the surgery. My husband was told he could join me after I received an epidural, but in the OR, my legs were strapped down, and I wasn’t given one. I overheard discussions about putting me to sleep, and I begged to stay awake, repeatedly asking for my husband. A nurse advocated for me, stating I didn’t consent, but we were ignored. Dr. Merritt introduced herself but did not explain why general anesthesia was necessary. My husband wasn’t informed until after our son was born, and I woke up.

Wonderful Experience
I could not have had a better experience with Dr. Merritt. She was thorough, kind, and very patient with my litany of questions at every appointment. It was truly the greatest prenatal and birthing experience. The nurses in her office and during the c section were excellent as well. Totally put me at ease the entire time. A+++.

Not sense of urgency
I was made to reschedule an appt I was supposed to have next week. Now its with the nurse practicioner for over a month after the intended timeframe. The nurse practitioner can't even see me on the day I was originally scheduled. The Dr. will only be in the office for 2 days in April. I need the doctor's help to address a serious condition I have that most likely requires surgery. There is no sense of urgency or care for my health. I am unable to see another doctor within the practice. I am in pain and I have to wait until her schedule is clear.

Dr.Merritt is the the best doctor I’ve ever had. I specifically drive from Savannah to go to her Richmond hill office for her. She was with me for my whole first pregnancy and delivered my baby prematurely through c section. There were so many scary last minute concerns with my pregnancy that came up so unexpectedly and Dr.Merritt did an awesome job of reassuring me on whatever route we would have to take and thoroughly explained every single thing going on with me and my baby leaving me with pretty much no questions each time. She has a lovely warm personality and humor and an overall awesome bedside manner.

She was my gynecologist for my son pregnancy who’s about 18 months. At first she seems really nice and understanding because this was my first pregnancy. But when the last weeks of my pregnancy were coming up she urged me to get a C section because he didn’t drop. I ended up going through with a C section because she scared me into it. After I had my son I didn’t see ever the entire time I was in the hospital. a couple weeks later she left and moved to a different hospital. Seemed to me like she was just trying to rush me out of her face. Would not recommend

Dr. Merritt is just simply amazing. After the first appt, I felt completely comfortable and knew that she would have my best interest during my pregnancy. She honestly has a passion for what she does and I would recommend anyone who is seeking a OB/GYN to just give Dr. Merritt a try. You will not be disappointed.
