Excellent surgeon!!
I recently had to have major abdominal surgery . Dr. Tuai was referred to me by 3 other doctors whose opinions I respect. Prior to the surgery I was anxious about the procedure itself, potential level of discomfort, and the recovery process. After speaking with Dr. Tuai..who took the time to address my concerns..my level of stress was reduced. Dr. Tuai did a great job, my level of discomfort was minimal, and my recovery has been smooth. I would highly recommend Dr. Tuai and his staff to anyone requiring surgery. Plus, he has a good sense of humor!

Terrible in Every Way
I had no pain PRIOR to the operation. Almost 1.5 years later, I am still in chronic pain after routine, robotic hernia surgery for 29 minutes. Dr. Tuai recorded inaccurate notes about my condition and pain (I had to correct them), did little to help me, has been dishonest, makes false, baseless assertions with arrogance, and has awful bed side manner. The latter would be okay if he had performed a good quality surgery. I have a list of grievances that is pages long which I submitted to lawyers trying to get justice, but I'm told that chronic pain after surgery and medical ignorance are not actionable. The office staff is equally poor, and I almost cancelled my operation due to their negligence. They don't understand HIPAA, neither does Tuai, don't return phone calls reliably, and are not very nice. Yvette is an exception; she is the only one who is kind, reliable, and helpful. Lupe, office manager, is the worst, and dishonest. If you value your well-being, I'd go somewhere else.

Dr Tuai is a great surgeon but needs to work on his communication and bedside manner. I had MAJOR surgery and at 8 weeks post op, I was still having some symptoms. I was advised by his medical asst to make an appt with Dr Tuai instead of my primary doctor. When I went in for my appt ,he was very short , didn't want to hear what I had to say, did not examine me, and that by the book, I was healed and ready to go back to working 12 hr days. If I still had pain or exhaustion that did not matter. Advised me to see my primary doctor for further follow up. I felt like I was just another number or dollar sign. I do say though, that Liz and Yvette are awesome employees. Ended up that I went to see my primary doctor and she recommended that I have a follow up CT scan (which Dr Tuai did not do) and light duty for the time being.

Would like to express my thanks and gratitude to Dr Tuai for his professionalism, skill and demeanor in performing robotic surgery to repair my stomach hernia. My hernia was fairly large and it required a TARS procedure to correct it. The surgery was 5/6 hours long and was very successful. I thought I would be in considerable pain for at least a few days but to my astonishment my pain was way less than anticipated. Other than lifting I was back to my long walks and normal activities in 3 or 4 days! Stomach looks great. Highly recommend Dr. Tuai for any surgery you might be considering.

I found Dr Tuai to be compassionate and very attentive. He took the time to fully explain my options and did not try to push me into surgery. It did take several days to get an appointment. After leaving two messages over three days with the scheduling staff and no return call, I tried a third time and the receptionist was able to patch me into them directly.
