Just do it
If you need your hand held, call your mother. If you need your back fixed, call Dr. Steinke. I crawled into his office and three repaired herniated discs later, I'm walking again. Well done.

Fabulous surgeon.
Professional, fun and witty. He made the worst time in my life bearable. Anterior and posterior cervical fusion C2 to T2 with cadaver bones. Not one single problem after I healed. This guy is magic as are his team.

I would never recommend Brian Steinke to ANYONE. He is a HAPHAZARD, CONDESCENDING, EGOTISTICAL, UNCOMPASSIONATE, MOST RUDE Doctor/person I've ever met or seen in my life. He is not a good person or a good Orthopedic. He does not listen to you. He will talk over you then dismiss you in a couple minutes leaving you frustrated and still at a 10 in pain. He ignores YOUR NEEDS, Physical therapy notes, test results, ER visits and cuts you off of any kind of pain relief when you clearly need something. He will talk poorly of his patients once he leaves a room with them (I've heard him). He recently did a lumbar surgery on me that has left me in the most pain I've even been in my life with NO help for pain at all. Seek a Neurosurgeon or someone who listens and wants the best for you, your family or loved ones. do yourself a HUGE favor and seek a Doctor you are comfortable with and is sincere. This flipping guy is not the one. He should be banned from this profession. I can go on but no room.

A Concerned Victim – Sep 03, 2021

I had 2 lumbar surgeries in a year that not only didn't help but left me practically an invalid. I know suffer from such severe nerve damage that not any of the strongest painkillers can help, I attribute this to poor surgical technique. I've had a year to research, study, talk with others, etc. and I haven't found a single case that has the level of nerve damage that I have from the surgeries. He misdiagnosed my condition twice, seemingly ignoring the diagnostic imaging and other test results instead randomly removing discs he thought where causing problems. I now live in so much pain that wearing clothes is a 9 out of 10 pain level. Also, I can only sit and lay down for short periods before I have to get up because the pain increases to a 10 out of 10, which as you can imagine makes sleep impossible. I can only stand and walk for a few minutes at a time. My entire lower body goes numb. I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture. Any other Dr would be a better choice.

It starts with his staff. All of his staff is very professional and caring. I had a disability claim and his office always provided the necessary information to the insurance company in a timely manner for proper payment. The doctor was genuinely caring and through with my back problem. I'm doing fine now. Our son had back surgery performed by Dr. Steinke a few years ago and he had wonderful results. I would recommend him to all.

Satisfied Patient – Apr 01, 2020
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Steinke?
This was my first and last visit with this or any other orthopedic doctor at North Western. Dr Steinke was the worst doctor I have ever seen in my entire life. He is rude, arrogant, flippant, argumentative, dismissive and overall the most uncompassionate human being I've ever encountered. I went just to have an abnormal MRI of my neck interpreted in terms i could understand. Instead what I got was getting talked at in a rude and antagonistic tone, the entire time. I went seeking help understanding an MRI that was already done and whether I had anything that I need to be concerned about or any actions I could take that would help. He even mentioned during the visit that there were other people that complained about what I assume was him because he couldn't help then that's why they are upset, let me tell you The reason why people are complaining about you doctor is your attitude and your treatment of your fellow human beings not of any help that you may or may not be able to offer.

Dr. Steinke did my lumbar fusion and the experience could not have been better. I went from needing a wheelchair pre op to walking with ease a few hours later. I absolutely give him five stars across the board. He’s smart, experienced, and - along with his nurse, Sharon Jones, RN - committed to outstanding patient care.

Abrupt, dismissive, spoke over me, did not address my concerns. My visit to discuss possible surgical options for my disc issues was a very negative experience and I would not recommend this Dr. to anyone else.

Please do NOT see this Dr. !!!!! I seen Dr Steinke for severe pain in my lower back today. When I set the appointment up over a month ago the office told me to submit all my x-rays, MRI, steroid injections, rehabilitation appointments, etc. everything from the past 2 years that I have had done up this day. So the dr could go over them before the appt. He was very arrogant and rude towards me. Very bad bedside manners!! Argumentive! Treated me like I was lying about my pain. OMG! The worst dr!

My father and I went to see him. Immediately his mannerisms were of disinterest. My father is claustrophobic. His solution to an all ready diagnosed issue was to put my father under anesthesia, and intubation—for a diagnostic image without explaining the risks of doing so. When I wanted to get him to explain it he declared I was “antagonistic” when I want some answers to pointed questions. He is defensive, arrogant, and obnoxiously indignant. Don’t waist your time.

Dr.Steinke is fabulous!! I first met Dr. Steinke and his wonderful team in his office when I presented with extreme pain in my neck and sudden weakness/paralysis in my arms and leg. He immediately calmed my fears and I felt confident he would be able to help me in my dire situation. after ordering stat MRIs he performed an emergency ACDF that was 100% successful in giving me the ability to walk again, pain free! He is very skilled, personable and knowledgeable! I am forever grateful for him.

I went to Dr. Stienke to get my 4th opinion re: my spinal degeneration. I found him to be frank, very informative and easy to talk to. He and his staff, including the Therapy Staff are professional and courteous. A great experience overall.

Came in and met him for an ime appointment. Found him to be very informative, educated, helpful, and understanding. He definitely wasn't the kind of Dr there just to collect a check he truly seems to have a passion for what he does, and wants to help people get better. Unlike other ime doctor's that i believe would rather just collect some kind of kick backs/money under the table. His staff has always been very nice, understanding, and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone.
