I had visited another orthopedic surgeon in the area for a hip issue. I was surprised by the brief encounter I had with him and was hoping for the thorough and thoughtful examination and consultation patients received in years past. I then went to Dr. Shannon and couldn't have been more impressed and pleased with his attention, concern, advice and expertise. He provides the kind of thorough care that is rare today. I would recommend him in an instant for his quality care and expertise. I come from a medical family and he provides truly top notch care.

Dr. Shannon and his PA Dominic performed my R. Total Hip replacements in December using the Frontal Approach December 16 and I returned back to work with No Restrictions on February 25. These two are one of the finest Surgeons I have ever met in many years with involvement in nursing. The famous Dr. in Salem, Ohio wouldn't even see me due to my BMI-WT. When I meet Dr. Shannon, he told me I would have no problem because I am built like a football player. He was RIGHT 100 percent. Not to mention that the Follow Up Care was EXCEPTIONAL. It is clearly evident that Dr. Shannon and his Medical Staff go far beyond that extra mile to see that the patient outcome is that of sucessful results. He and the Medical Staff members at Southwoods Health are a true asset to the Mahoning Valley. On a scale of 1 to 10, it is my honor to give them a 10. Thank You for your expertise. I had anterior hip replacement surgery in April with fast recovery, no complications and great follow up by staff. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering hip replacement surgery.

Dr Shannon replaced my left hip 8 days ago and I am already walking around with no cane, crutches or a walker, just walking around normal. This is my second hip, my first one was ten years ago and I was using a walker for a month with that hip. I would highly recommend anyone who needs a hip done to go see Dr Shannon and have the anterior approach done by him

I went to Dr. Shannon for back pain. He took a lot of time at each appt. explaining the problem, going over the MRI and explaining my options. I will probably have surgery, but there was no pressure to choose that option. Also, he kept close to appt times and I really appreciated that.
