16 Years
16 years ago I was referred to Dr. Nelson by a friend. He was so discerning and matter of fact that he was able to parse out a very convoluted story that ended with Dr. Nelson “finding” my now 15 year old daughter at 16wks! When I was diagnosed with pelvic prolapse and was looking for a new provider, Dr. Nelson was the obvious choice based on my previous experience. He (and his team) DID NOT DISAPPOINT. What was ignored by my previous doc was attended to in 1 appointment. What the other doc said was not possible, was made possible. The root cause of my issue, Dr. Nelson identified, so we could use the most informed course of action.

Totally past his prime.
It’s obvious he’s burnt out. I think I could agree that he was a A+ endometriosis speciality doc at one time…but that times has come and gone. The one thing he is excellent at now is medically gaslighting his patients. He has an excuse for everything and if anything goes wrong you can bet he won’t take accountability for it. As a person I am sure he is a great guy, but as a endometriosis surgeon….not so much. It’s unfortunate that here in Colorado our options are very limited on who he can see. But if you need endometriosis surgery it might be worth while to travel out of the state. When it comes to post op recovery and after surgery care you’ll be better off turning to Facebook or Google rather then going to him with questions. He’s a surgeon. He does surgery and that’s it. I would go else where for your hysterectomy, endo surgery, or pelvic pain if you are able.

Amazing for Endometriosis!
Dr. Nelson listened to me, took me seriously, and answered all my questions. He did my second excision surgery for endometriosis after I had surgery with a different doctor 9 months prior who told me I was endo free. When I sent Dr. Nelson the surgery pictures from my first surgery, he pointed out specific places he thought he saw endo lesions just from the pictures, that the other surgeon did not catch. I was very nervous to do this surgery again since I did not want to wake up and have a doctor tell me I was fine all over again. He reassured me he would do his best and that he did suspect endo, all while making no false promises to me. When I woke up he said he found and excised endo from my bladder, cul de sac, pelvic walls, and uterosacral ligaments, and that he removed my appendix since it was so inflamed, that it likely would have become appendicitis in 6 months, saving me from another procedure in the future. I cannot recommend Dr. Nelson enough for endo excision.

Dr Nelson did not provide informed consent and insisted about an oophorectomy for a 23 year old and then admitted in my patient notes he did not know the long term effects it would have on my body which are critical and lifespan shortening. I am now stuck like this.

One of the best doctors I have ever had. He was the first doctor who took my pain seriously and figured out that there was more to my case than I even expected. He successfully excised my endometriosis and fibroids. His care team is amazing too and the people surrounding him were patient and wonderful.

Dr. Nelson completely ignored my request to keep my ovaries. When asked about the lifelong ramifications of going through menopause at 39 he said, "you'll have some hot flashes but that's it." Excuse me, what?!! NO! The absence of estrogen in a female body that young has much more far reaching consequences and he relayed NONE of them to me. Now I'm stuck in a body I don't recognize with lifelong "symptoms" because he refused to do as I asked. This man ruined my life.

I am so thankful to have found Dr. Nelson. I feel like my life has changed since walking into his office. I have stage 4 endometriosis. Dr. Nelson and his nurse Danielle are so attentive. They take their time to fully listen to you. I have never felt so respected by a medical professional. I appreciate being treated the way I deserve. Thank you Dr. Nelson!!

Totally amazing. A genius at robotic surgery. I had no scar whatsoever from my surgery. Also, I have had health professionals compliment how perfectly placed my internal organs still are after having a complete robotic hysterectomy by Dr. Nelson. However, I do have one criticism of Dr. Nelson - he is way too handsome and young-looking to be a gynecologist, especially one of his caliber. Not to mention how extremely considerate, humble, and nice he is. His nurse is equally exceptional.

If I could give Dr. Nelson a 10 I would. He's amazing! He's incredibly patient, compassionate, and truly listens. I've been trying to get pregnant for 7.5 years at all 3 major fertility clinics in Colorado. Dr. Nelson is the first doctor who actually listened to me; I had a severe case of endo that he excised less than 2 weeks ago. He called me from home before and after surgery to check on me and make sure all questions were answered, and I couldn't be happier!
