Complete Hack
Just before leaving UW med in Seattle (likely asked to leave) Dr M performed a surgery on my ankle, claiming he could repair my ruptured tendon, but instead cut and transferred it. He not only did so VERY badly (resulting in terrible scar tissue, needing to be redone within a year) but also did so without informing me that replacing my tendon with my own hamstring tendon was an option. I don’t even think he KNEW it was a surgical technique. My 2nd surgeon and another i consulted both agreed that a tendon transfer should never have been done on my foot. My balance is forever impacted and Dr McInnes is, at best, a completely substandard surgeon. Go elsewhere

I went to Dr. McInnes after moving to the Seattle area. I had significant foot pain that was pervasive. A long-time runner, I was quick to work with doctors in the greater DC area. I spent almost 2 years trying walking boots or pausing training. My foot wasn't improving and though I had appointment after appointment, my meetings with doctors were always so short and no one took the time to really diagnose me or to explain options. On my first meeting Dr. I spent almost 40 minutes showing me his assessment of past records and working with me on a solution. In the end, I underwent surgery to lengthen my achilles and to repair my plantar fascia. Dr. I and his team continued to show great support through my healing process. It's been almost 6 years and my foot is holding up and I've enjoyed running for years since. Dr. I was the most attentive doctor I've ever experienced for a sports injury.

Dr. McInnes absolutely RUINED my right foot and ankle. I saw him only because I was in pain and my usual doc at the Sports Medicine Clinic couldn't see me for weeks. While he correctly diagnosed my torn tendons and told me that surgery was necessary (it was), he didn't evaluate me completely and apparently failed to notice that my foot structure (high arch) means that the procedure he performed (Brevis tendon transfer) will almost always fail. Mine failed in less than 5 months. Now I have to have another surgery to correct this hack's job. Avoid this incompetent (and as other reviewers have said - ARROGANT) jerk like the plague.

I recently saw Dr. McInnes and found him to be very direct and to the point. He listened to my complaint relating to my foot pain and did an intial examination followed up by a ct scan. I will be seeing him to see how best to proceed with my condition. I found Dr. McInnes to be very professional and he intently listened to me concerning my foot pain.

Dr. McInnes was dismissive of alternative health options (acupuncture, massage). He also performed a very minor procedure without informing me that it would a) be considered a medical procedure and would cost $100, or b) letting me know that he was planning on reporting it as not medically necessary, so my insurance would not cover it. When I called to follow up, office staff heard my complaint, said they would follow up with me later and see if the cost could be waived. No further action taken or follow up occurred. Very poor experience altogether. Thank goodness I have an excellent acupuncturist, who resolved my foot pain.

Dr. McInnes was knowledgeable about my condition, explored non-invasive treatments prior to recommending surgery. Ultimately, we chose a surgical treatment and it was 100% successful in relieving the foot pain I'd been struggling with for years.

Good experience initially. Over time became unresponsive, condescending, patronizing, and massively unhelpful (an actual impediment).

Needs some basic communication training. Doesn't listen, arrogant, don't bother to ask any questions. You will be shot down, or not even responded to.

If basic common courtesy is a requirement for you in a health care provider, then don't waste your time with Dr. BRIAN MCINNES!!! The first time I saw him, he had an arrogant air about him. I thought it might improve over time as we built a doctor/patient rapport. However, the opposite has occurred. His condescending tone and lack of respect are completely unacceptable. He has zero listening skills or compassion. Horrid experience! I regret the time and money I have wasted here.
