No Regard For Being A Loyal Patient
After being a patient for many years, I was told very abruptly and rudely, AND without any emotion, Dr. McCleary no longer wanted to accept my insurance. When I asked him directly, he had a very “Oh well” attitude, and sent me on my way without any suggestions, a referral, or options. I was abruptly left without a doctor. Then 3-THREE YEARS later, I received billing for almost $200.00. Shame on him for the delay in the billing.

He works hard to get you on the schedule when you need him. He takes care of patients the right way.

Dr. McCleary is a pleasant doctor and seems generally competent. As others have noted, however, he does seem strongly revenue focused. There is no attempt to follow-up on issues unless you pay for another meeting with him - he will not communicate with you at all on follow-up, even briefly, unless you are paying on the clock for a full new appointment. Also, he and his staff do a poor job helping patients understand billing issues. He recently recommended a procedure for me and assured me that it would be covered by my insurance. However, it was then not covered and I was stuck with a large bill over $500. His staff, finally, do a poor job communicating with other doctors and service providers to which he gives referrals - when one goes to meet with them, they might not know anything at all from Dr. McCleary's office about the relevant situation, so you end up starting over "cold" and explaining everything from "scratch" to the new doctor.

We were patients with another Doctor in his practice for over 2 years, when she left, we received a letter from Dr. McCleary indicating it was important to maintain continuous healthcare and indicating that he (Dr McCleary) would be available for our care. Only, he wasn't. As it happened we just turned 65 and went on Medicare. Dr. McCleary doesn't accept new patients with medicare. Somehow after more than two year attending appointments in his office we suddenly were new patients. So much for continuing care! I was unable to get a refill on my blood pressure medication because he would not accept me as a patient. So now I am at risk until I can find another primary care provider. If you are older, find another practice. This practice does not like people over 65.

Dr. McCleary is a competent doctor who seems to have genuine empathy for his patients. His staff however leave much to be desired. While Dr. McCleary always expressed to Let him know of any problems it is impossible to actually speak with him other than during at an office visit. Requests to talk to Dr. McCleary are returned by his Business Manager That is a huge red flag to me and the reason I will be changing my primary healthcare provider. A bit hard to inform him of any problems...
