Rude
Very rude and condescending. Made racial comments and assumptions that due to my race I follow certain ways. Will never go back or ever recommend this Dr.

Dr. Katz was very personable, extremely informative and very conscientious about following up after my procedure. I would highly recommend him to any one needing a GI doctor. He couldn't have been any better.

I had a great experience with Dr Katz for my colonoscopy and endoscopy. The day of the procedure felt like a concierge level of service. They took care of me (I'm a late 40's guy) wonderfully; I ended up no longer feeling worried and felt no discomfort during the procedure. Really! I came here to write a review and was surprised to see negative comments. I don't know what happened with those ppl in the past but the doctor spent a lot of time with me and helped me understand what I needed to do help with my condition. Regarding co-pays being charged...those comments are unfair. You should ALWAYS know if YOU owe a co-payment when you go to use your insurance. Call the insurance company before you go. It takes 10 minutes. How is the front office of a doc's office going to know your personal co-pay across the dozens of plans they take. There is no magic computer system (yet) that tells them. They don't know. Only the accountants figure that out later in the back office.

First appointment was less than 5 minutes long, doctor did not listen to my experience at all and sent me away with a photocopied list of recommendations that would have been absurd and dangerous for my condition. I heard him give the same advice he gave me, verbatim, to the 2 patients before me through the thin walls of his tiny Monroe office. They took my credit card despite having no copay and scheduled a bunch of procedures. I had to call and write letters to cancel it all.

As a Perioperative Registered Nurse for over 6 years and a surgical technician for about 9 years prior to that, I have worked with hundreds of physicians over the years. In my opinion, Dr. Brian Katz is by far the most skilled and competent Gastroenterologist that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. His ability to safely and expertly perform GI procedures is unparalleled. I highly recommend him. John LoMeo, RN
