Dr. Brian Gengler, MD

It’s been a little over a year since Dr. Gengler performed a cervical fusion on me. My life has been completely transformed. It’s difficult to remember the pain anymore. All the symptoms I was experiencing have almost completely gone away. I “shopped” around for different surgeons and ultimately chose Dr Gengler because of his confidence of his ability to help me and the way he helped me understand what was going on in my neck and the process to fix it. He took his time to listen to me and not rush me out of the door. His PA Nina is also a big factor in my choice. She was incredible throughout all of my visits. I was terrified of having surgery. I never had any surgery beforehand. I cannot express in words how happy I am to have had the surgery and that I chose Dr Gengler to perform it. Very talented surgeon. I recommend him to anyone looking for help with spinal problems. Thank you doc!

I wouldn't recommend Dr. Gengler to my worst enemy! He did back surgery on me in December 2019 and my back hurt worse after surgery then prior to surgery. He filled my back with cement, which was not necessary, and hardware that came loose in less than 3 years. He put spacers in the back of my spine but not the front of my spine, which set me up for failure. I was lucky enough to find an excellent spine surgeon who was willing to fix the terrible surgical job Dr. Gengler did. I was in surgery for 7 hours due to having to remove all of the cement from my back, replace the hardware that came loose and put spacers in the front of my spine where it never successfully fused from my surgery with Dr. Gengler. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for a qualified surgeon and don't settle for Dr. Gengler. I choose him because of other excellent surgeons in his group at the time. I didn't do my homework on Dr. Gengler and have lived to regret it. Don't make the same mistake I did!!

Love Dr Gengler. The whole clinic really. All the Drs are very knowledgeable. Dr Gengler is top knot has with great bedside manner and explains everything very well.

I tried to book an online appointment more than 2 weeks before the actual appointment date. I got an email from the online booking service asking me to send my forms to the doctor on the night before the appointment, so I did. Then when I was on my way to the appointment, the office decides to call me and cancel the appointment because it was never "approved" on the online system (despite this online system asking me to send forms to the office on the previous night). They could have quite literally informed me of this at any time before I was in my car and on my way. If you want to waste your time and force yourself to delay your care, then definitely come here. Otherwise, go anywhere else because at least they'll have the courtesy to call before they unilaterally cancel a pre-made appointment.

I called to make appointment with Dr Milani who retired recently and was referred to Dr Gengler. What a great doctor. I went in with 2 MRI's that showed 4 of 5 bulging disc in my lower lumbar. He took x-rays also and was so detailed on all. Very thorough in explanations of what all else I have going on cysts, scoliosis, bursitis anyways a whole lot. He did 2 steroid injections in both hips and I see another doctor for steroid injection in my lower back. He truly has great bedside manner, great personality even with my wise cracks he laughed. I would definitely recommend he should be one of the doctors at the top of your list or if you just want a 2nd opinion

Dr Gengler, You are the best, and I always seek out the best! I just told the office manager (Jennifer) yesterday that she has the greatest spine surgeon in the country. I wouldn’t go to anyone but you for any spinal issues. You are a brilliant surgeon and your care for your patients does not go unnoticed! Thank you for the amazing surgery on my cervical spine three weeks ago. I would recommend you to anyone, and have. You took a neck that had been badly hurting for at least a decade and made it nearly pain-free in just 3 weeks. That speaks volumes bc I know personal stories of several others who have had very bad experiences with surgeries on their spine. I’m rather sad for them. They need to come see you. One saw you yesterday for the 1st time. Friends tried to talk me out of having surgery, but I was confident that you would do well, and you did even better than well!! I’m not able to get my X-ray images on here.

Intelligent. Knowledgeable. What sets Dr. Gengler above the rest is that he is willing to take the time to explain diagnosis/plan. He reviewed MRI with me and I left with better understanding of my problem and complete confidence in my doctor.

Very knowledgeable. Excellent when explaining what's shown on xrays. Very thorough.

Dr Gengler is sharp, up front, kind, highly skilled, and effective. He performed surgery to repair a right hip fracture on my mom. Complicating issues included age, CHF, Chronic Kidney Disease, and poor bone quality. He coordinated with a team that included a nephrologist and a cardiologist pre and post surgery. Three weeks later, my mom was released from rehab and one week later she graduated from a walker to a cane. He is excellent. Baylor Irving along with their rehab unit are outstanding!
