I had him as the anesthesiologist for my surgery at Orthopedic Associates of Michigan and he was fantastic. Very personable and down to earth. He was very thorough in his explanations of what to expect and made sure I was aware of all my options for post-op pain relief. He told me what his recommendations were but ultimately made sure I knew the choice was up to me. I wasn't sure what I wanted, so I asked him if we could discuss after surgery depending on my pain. He made the professional decision of saying no because he didn't want me consenting to anything while not being in a sober state of mind, which I hadn't thought about before asking and greatly appreciated. In the OR, I cried for a minute just due to anxiety before I was given the anesthesia. Dr. Doud did a great job talking to me, distracting me and making me as comfortable as possible.
