Dr. Bettina Pels-Wetzel, DDS

My first visit to Dr. Wetzel will be my last. I have never been so insulted by a provider in all my life. She made no effort to understand my medical history or my anxieties around receiving care and instead made flippant judgements on everything from her perception of my parents' engagement in my upbringing to what she decided was evidence of an eating disorder. When I told her I had been uninsured for many years and had only been able to afford treatment using a 'chain' dentistry practice she scolded me for going to 'the mall of dentists' Not only that, but because she has a hearing impairment, she speaks very loudly, and with no true privacy features in her office (no doors between waiting room and exam areas) her wild judgements and rude remarks could be heard by the receptionist, other patients, and probably the neighbors. I left the office astonished, in tears, and without a resolution to a very serious dental problem that was causing severe pain.
