Dr. Bethany Vanderzwaag, MD

I used her for a couple of years. She was “okay”. The last appointment I had with her, she had completely fell off the fails. Rude and condescending. It appears something had happened administratively. A night and day difference. She has the knowledge, but has massive personality issues.

She was rude, kept saying how horrible my previous dr was who i adored. She said he didn’t care about women’s health but he did… she doesn’t! Not sure how she’s still in practice! I don’t usually like to leave negative reviews but she’s not even a decent Dr. She had me in medicated for months until her office manager stepped in.

It didn’t seem like making me comfortable was a priority at all. The whole experience felt very stigmatizing and demoralizing. She wasn’t understanding or sympathetic, and at several points her comments and questions made me uncomfortable.

Previous MD that I was using moved to another practice and Vanderzwaag was the replacement... Upon first meeting, it was straight to numbers/data. Not a bit of small talk or a back and forth regarding any personal connection. Vanderzwaag i am sure is smart and qualified, but does not listen and fails to try to understand the patients situation. Got a hint of her way is the only correct way. Seeing her has now left me without the ability to get a medication that i have been taking for 10+ years.I rarely take to time to give reviews, but she has really put me in a tough position. I would not recommend using her.

I was able to review my note with this provider through an app that I have. She smiled and acted friendly during my visit then charted she basically thought my symptoms were made up. Even if they are stress related, have the decency to tell me that during my appointment. She never mentioned it. She said my symptoms were not present during my appointment. I felt very hurt and disappointed. I will not be back. My current provider left. That’s how I ended up seeing her.

Decided to let this doctor do my annual checkup and 6 months later I am still in pain. Never had any pain before checkup.

My Fiancee was just in to see her and the "doctor" was extremely condescending and fat shamed her the entire time, once my fiancee started asking questions, the "doctor" immediately got an attitude about being questioned. In her first sentence the "doctor" not only fat shamed my fiancee but also criticized her now late colleague my fiancees former doctor for not doing her job and when my fiancee asked why she was being this way the doctor yelled at her and walked out. Do not go to this doctor if you arent a trophy wife or you will be shamed to point of being suicidal.

She is detailed and thorough in her evaluations, and very honest. She truly does care for her patients intimately. I would recommend her to anyone. Male or female.

I had a wonderful experience here. It was my first visit and now I want to bring my whole family... she actually LISTENED and explained herself. Also, the girls in the office were chipper and helpful. Maybe I've just had bad experiences with doctors offices in the past, but this was a 10 out of 10 compared to anyone else I've been to.

Our family has used Dr. Vanderzwaag for years. She's very kind and has a great bedside manner.
