She was the only doctor who would entertain the idea of me having a vaginal birth after my emergency cesarean. I had doctors laugh at me and others downright say I’m too high risk when I wasn’t. Bernadette was the first doctor who didn’t give me a single doubt as to my ability to birth a child. She also never rushed me out of appointments which was a breath of fresh air. She agreed to my birth plan which included things like med free and laboring in tub, I was in control.

Our son was born 10 weeks early and Dr. Hightower-Hughes was the dr who delivered him. She was quiet (which I love and need), and competent. She’s a no-nonsense type of person, which I also love. I would recommend her to someone that doesn’t need their hand held every step of the way, doesn’t need a lot of interference, And appreciates quiet confidence.

I had to switch to another OB in another clinic late in my pregnancy because of her lack of concern for my high risk pregnancy. She acted like none of my concerns(Or the ones the hospital had) were valid even though I am high risk for life threatening complications during delivery and she completely disregarded that fact and went on with her plan which was a very dangerous one leaving the life of myself and unborn child in jeopardy. She needs to partner with her patients, not work against them!

We had a horrible experience with her. We found out at 21 weeks that our baby no longer had a heartbeat and she was the doctor who told us and the doctor who was there for the weekend I was induced. She was flippant, made jokes while she told us our baby was gone, and totally disregarded my concerns about the induction meds. She lied to my face when she told me "I will only give the lowest amount of medicine to get your body into labor" and then gave me the max. Would NEVER recommend her.

She was rude to my fiance and I. She acted as if she knew my personal life. Also told me that if I don't want kids I should be on birth control which didn't work for me before and due to my age can't get permanent birth control.
