knee surgery ligament replacement
Dr Petre is awesome. I tore all the ligaments in one of my knees in a traumatic injury. He operated on my right knee and replaced all the ligaments. I have full use of my knee with no residual pain. Amazing. I would recommend him to anyone considering knee surgery.

Every day walking becomes more problematic.
In 2020 I was operated on for a plateau fracture. I was never told my options especially the one where I waited o have knee surgery. Big mistake. I’m crippled now. He didn’t even find time to explain what went wrong, his PA did that. Orthopedic surgery is too important, find another doctor.

A Genuine Human Being With A Wealth Of Knowledge !
Saw him today for FAI/Right Hip Torn Labrum - such a nice man!!! excellent bedside manners and easy to chat with. He is to the point and on point with his assessment and management of my condition. He answered all of my main questions. As a gift for him, I came in organized with my thoughts, pertinent records, CDs and kept it to the point and brief which I am certain any doctor appreciates. He is busy! So I remained respectful of his time. I had some additional concerns about my knee joint and asked if I could make another appointment to address that. So I will be returning for that at a later date. As a physician myself (which they did not know until a few moments before I left) I am quite comfortable proceeding with surgery in the next couple of months with Dr. Petre, knowing that I am in good hands and with a Much better understanding of what it entails now. This was my experience today. I hope it's helpful for other potential patients.

Very happy with my care
I’m surprised by the negative reviews I’ve seen here. I have had nothing but good encounters with Dr. Petre and his staff. He’s always very patient and willing to answer all of my questions and explains things well. I’ve been seeing him for hip pain from labral tears in both hips for the past 5+ years. He’s very conservative and recommended trying to manage it with physical therapy and steroid injections. That worked for a while, but doesn’t seem to be helping much anymore. I started having hamstring pain and found out I tore my hamstring muscles in my right leg, so that’s adding to my discomfort. I decided to go ahead with surgery on that later this summer, and if that goes well, will likely fix the label tears. I’m hoping surgery will go well, as this will be my first experience with it. I will leave another review afterwards.

Flawless
Dr. Petre is phenomenal. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and thorough. Recently, at 38 I tore my ACL and Meniscus. Dr. Petre answered my endless questions and took his time explaining pros and cons to different grafts and options. Surgery went perfectly and I couldn't be happier. At 12 weeks post op I'm feeling stronger everyday and couldn't be more thankful for the care Dr. Petre gave. Thank you!

Impertinent and Obnoxious
I visited with Dr. Petri the first week in February 2022 at the request of his my pain specialist within the same practice. The MRI showed torn anterior and posterior labrum tears in the left hip. Pain in my hip, groin, leg and the knee. As a Senior, I am not athletic in the least. So this is, no sports injury. As a 42 year veteran nurse, I am cautious and appreciate being included in my care. Dr. Petri was rude, sarcastic, and I left not knowing what was going on, despite my own efforts to ask questions. What I have learned about this hip issue is by my own research. His Staff was not friendly at all. Sadly, I have to return for a follow up, which no doubt will bounce me back to my pain specialist, or, another Doctor for follow up. No problem! I will not recommend him, to trim a rose bush let alone do surgery! See someone else for more capable and compassionate care.

This is the first time I've bothered to do one of these things, but having had bad experiences in the past with doctors pushing surgery and endless testing as the first option for problems, Dr. Petre was incredible. He took the time to make sure I fully understood everything and did a great job educating me on the pain I was experiencing and recommended conservative measures to help me feel better.

I thought Dr. Petre was condescending and impatient. I read at length his experience and wanted to speak with him about knee issues. I had been to King and Harries for shots in the knee but wanted to explore other options in which Petre specialized. He seemed a bit rude when reminding me of my visits with his colleagues as if I were going behind their back. I have since switched practices and will take my sons going forward to MedStar docs at Union Memorial. Dr. Gelfand, however, is wonderful.

I shattered my patella in June 2018 and had no idea just what a long process recovery would be (or that you could even break your patella!). I ended up requiring 3 surgeries (the original repair, a manipulation under anesthesia with arthroscopic scar tissue removal, and finally a hardware removal) over the course of 13 months, and I am so grateful for Dr. Petre and his team! They were absolutely amazing throughout each step, were always willing and available to answer my long list of questions, made me feel extremely comfortable, and gave me hope at times where I felt really hopeless. I would, without a doubt, recommend him and his team to anyone in need of orthopedic services; not only was the care I received top notch, but so was the support I received during a pretty challenging experience. They truly went above and beyond and I am so grateful to finally have my life (and knee) back!

Had an hip arthoscopy surgery done on May 28,2019. Had been in pain for 6 months straight. Went to Dr. Petre office in March. We discussed the xray and mri. Knowing surgery was probably gonna be needed I agreed on getting a cortisone shot. When the shot didn't work for that long I notified him telling him I believe surgery is the only option. With no hesitation his office sent me a surgery package with every detail on what I needed to do. His surgery scheduling nurse set the appointment up with no hesitation. With all that said I was pain free right afyer the surgery. In 3 weeks post op and still no pain. Dr. Petre and his whole staff is top notch. I would refer anyone to him. Thank you for helping me be pain free again.

He performed an arthroscopic clean up of my husband's knee based on an x-ray, and proceeded to give him additional cortisone shots in response to the continued pain and swelling. A second opinion -- complete with a MRI -- revealed Dr. Petre completely missed that my husband had a torn ACL. We concluded the year by having another surgery that necessitated more time off of work and weeks of PT. Between the surgeries, PT, follow up appointments and pain, we missed out on a year of our lives.

At the time of my hip surgery, I was 42 and walking with a cane. I had had debilitating hip/groin pain for a year. When it was clear surgery was the only option I was referred to Dr. Petre. Not only did he listen but he didn't dismiss me because of my age. Now 2 years post-op and I am walking without pain/cane or a limp. ? If you can see this brilliant Dr. don't hesitate! Dr. Petre is the best I only wish he could do my next hip surgery

5 Stars does not do Dr. Petre justice for the level of care he has provided to me. I had a serious injury requiring complicated emergency surgery and Dr. Petre took better care of me than ever could be expected. At each of my appointments I was always impressed with Dr. Petre’s knowledge, thoroughness and sincere care for my well-being. I am very grateful to Dr. Petre and his entire team for all that they have done, above and beyond my expectations, to help me properly recover. THANK YOU!

I needed ACL surgery, did research for an orthopedic surgeon & decided on Dr. Petre because so many other patients decided to take the time to rate him as a great doctor he must be. I did not regret my decision. Dr. Petre scheduled my surgery in a very timely manner & he & his staff are professional, courteous & friendly, genuinely caring about their patients.

From the beginning, he was patient, explaining everything in detail. He did not jump to wanting to do surgery first. Rather, he exhausted all other options first (a true testament to his integrity). He does everything to make sure the patient understands any decision & what is involved with each one, leaving nothing to question when you leave. From the bedside manner, to the professionalism and expertise, Dr. Petre makes each patient feel important. I have referred my family & co-workers!

Dr.Petre has been amazing. I had hip surgery with him this past year and he answered all of my questions and provided me with extensive information about my options, the surgery itself, and the recovery process. I love all the information and prompt attention (quick appointments or returned emails). My favorite part, however, is that Dr. Petre is personable. He never rushes and he is engaging.
