5 years post hip replacement
I know you're in pain, i know you're scared, and i know the decision to get a hip replacement can seem soooo very overwhelming right now. But, i also know it was the best decision i made in my journey to get well again. My name is Jason, i am a patient of Dr. Benjamin Hansen, i am 5 years post left hip replacement and i am still pleased i made the choice to do it.Also, i know shoe inserts may seem expensive, but again, i have 5 pair at $200 each and they are totally worth the investment. Trust me, as a nurse that is on his feet for 12 hour shifts... high quality, custom inserts are totally worth itthank you doctor Benjamin Hansen

A True Professional….
I have osteoarthritis in both my knees and I am bone on bone. I worked in a casino as a food runner for a celebrity chef for 15 years. My Father, Grandfather and Aunt all had the same issue. Initially my back went out in April of 2024 I have bulging discs and sciatica. Shortly after this occurred I got a diagnosis from my orthopedic surgeon that both my knees would have to be replaced in the same sentence he said I was too overweight for a surgery! Six more months went by when I decided to get another surgeon and that’s when I found Dr. Hansen. I brought up my weight in the first visit and he was not concerned. I got my right knee done by him in November 2024. The surgery team was exceptional! My healing is going great! I absolutely loved his intern Lucas! Dr. Hansen is a dream come true, especially if you are facing a knee replacement or a hip replacement. I wouldn’t give his office staff five stars most were good but there are always a couple that add stress. I gave him 5 stars.

Exceptional surgical skill; perfectionist
Dr. Hansen performed total arthroplasty on both of my knees in a span of seven months. He knows his field and is motivated to help his patients succeed. Because so many things can go wrong with joint replacement, a topnotch surgeon to guide the process is an absolute must; Dr. Hansen is such a surgeon. He is efficient, communicates clearly, and listens well. The team at UMC's orthopedic department supports him and helps make the transition from joint replacement surgery to home as smooth as possible. Dr. Hansen is clear in his directives about follow-up and the importance of physical therapy; he makes an indisputable argument for following doctor's orders. I have done so, and feel indebted to him for helping me through a couple of difficult orthopedic surgeries. I can (and do) recommend Dr. Hansen with no reservations.

Knee Pain
I would not recommend Dr. Hansen. I saw the doctor 2 months ago and he was to get approval for Gel Injections on my knee. He did not provide proper information to my specialty pharmacy for these two months after I have made numerous calls to his staff and my pharmacy. I called after 2 mths to speak to the doctor and they refuse to allow me to speak to the doctor. So my office visit to him was a complete waste of time and tremendous money and now I must find another doctor.

Outstanding in all respects.
I was very fortunate to have had the pleasure of being in the care of this fine person and awesome surgeon Dr. Hansen. DR. Hansen is very thorough and you can be assured that Dr. Hansen will not move forward with an elective procedure until all parameters have been met. Based on my personal experience you can depend on a complete satisfactory experience and outcome. Personally,I thank God for having put me in his care. I always look forward to my next appointment simply to make the connection of being able to see him and saying it’s good to see you again.

Hip replacement
Doctor Hansen had me walking without the need for a cane or walker after only 17 days after hip replacement surgery! I highly recommend you see him to eliminate your hip pain. I had very little pain after surgery and only needed an occasional ibuprofen during the day.

Ben Hansen is now at UMC in Las Vegas.
After two years of pain and problems with my right hip, I finally got a referral to UMC. After I called them, they had me scheduled for my first appointment within a week. After that, their procedures went as smoothly as warm butter. I'm two months post-surgery (total hip replacement) and pain free. Feeling GREAT for an 80 year-old lady!! Deep thanks to Doctor Hansen and his whole team. I recommend their team to EVERYBODY!!

Outstanding Result From An Outstanding Surgeon
At the age of 76, on November 15, 2022 I had a total left knee replacement surgery performed by Dr. Ben Hanson. On January 5th 2023, just 7 weeks from the date of the surgery I had my final follow-up appointment with Dr. Hanson and was given the green light to resume my passion of playing golf. Needless to say, I am a raving fan of Dr. Hanson. In all of my visits with him both pre-op, the day of the surgery both before and after, and my 3 post-op appointments, Dr. Hanson was extremely straight forward with providing information concerning where I stood. More importantly he was confident in his ability and provided me with the confidence to feel really good about having a successful outcome. The written information provided answered every possible question I had in how to prepare for the operation, deal with post surgery pain and recovery and complete information on resources available for any problems I might encounter.

My Left Hip
Dr. Hansen, How can I thank you, let me list some ways. The office staff were helpful making appointments and scheduling the required tests prior to our initial meeting. At our initial meeting, you were clear and concise about what was going to happen before, during and following the surgery. You answered all my questions, and I understood my responsibilities to produce a good outcome. The surgery itself was just what you’d described. I felt comfortable/confident after surgery when PT took me for my first walk. The renewed strength and balance have truly improved my life. The hospital staff took excellent care of me, and they should be recognized/thanked also. Finally - I haven’t had any issues since the surgery. Post operative care has been (again) just what you had originally explained to me. Our post-op office visits have reassured me that everything went as well as could be expected.

Hip Replacement
I was dealing with Osteoarthritis in my left hip and when the condition reached bone on bone status something needed to be done. The visit with Dr Hansen was specific and to the point. The corrective action was detailed and thoroughly explained. Dr Hanson knew the talk; he also walked the walk. I was walking, with walker assistance, the day of the procedure; on my own in two days. Can't thank him enough.

Dr. Hansen is absolutely amazing!
I honestly can't say enough about Dr. Hansen. After having knee surgery from another doctor, my husband had a severe infection and was in so much pain yet his original doctor wouldn't see him for weeks until his next appointment. We went to Dr. Hansen for a second opinion and he did surgery on my husbands knee just days after seeing him for the first time. I honestly believe he probably saved my husbands leg. He explained everything so well. He took so much time with us, answering all of our questions. He called me right after the surgery to let me know how it went. He sat in his office with us a couple weeks later and called around on his own cell to get us an appointment with a plastic surgeon for tissue that wasn't healing due to the infection. What doctor does that?? He cares so much about his patients!! My husband has had a lot of doctors over the last few years and Dr. Hansen is one of the best we have ever dealt with. If only we would have gone to him first.

I was referred to Dr. Hansen thinking I would need a ‘poly change’ in my left knee due to wear and tear. That had been my experience every 6-7 years following my original 1998 replacement. Dr. Hansen carefully examined the knee, and subsequently identified a shift of a couple degrees in the prosthetic causing the premature poly wear. I needed a “Revision” – a replacement of the replacement. While I'm retired at 70, I remain active cycling, hiking, scuba diving, snow skiing, golfing and kayaking - and within 4-5 months following surgery, I was 100% and enjoying all to the fullest extent. I had never found a physician who was as motivated and vested in my recovery as me - until Dr. Hansen. Along with the physical aspect, Dr. Hansen has an excellent grasp of the psyche involved – understanding the mentality and goals of the individual – and knowing how to work with the individual to achieve those goals. BTW: my 2020 right knee replacement was also a great success! Thanks Dr. Hansen!

Initial visit with Dr. Hansen went well. I have had 2 bad knees for years. His staff was attentive and friendly. He was very knowledgeable and offered suggestions to deal with the situation I am in. Am very pleased that I was given him as my orthopedic for knees. Wish he would do shoulders as those are bad too.

I have had both knees done by Dr. Hansen. He is very good at what he does. The second knee replaced was a revision to what another surgeon had done. This was only in two years and it had to be replaced. Dr. Hansen had to replace part of the bone, because of the way the other surgeon installed the replacement. It has been almost a year now and it is feeling great. I would recommend Dr. Hansen to all of my family and friends.

Absolutely amazing. I have been through numerous doctors for year’s in pain with my knee . Thought I was getting no where at one point then I met Dr. Hansen and that all changed. He took the time to listen to me and figure out what was going on with my knee. Took the time to answer all my questions and explain what was happening . Most doctors don’t care but this man really does care about his patients. He helped me so much I’m able to start walking again. He is so kind and a wonderful doctor.
