Extremely unprofessional! My husband had to reschedule twice over the course of a year and Dr. Edelman told him off via text and told him "Good luck getting your medications filled by someone else. Lose my number!"

Writing for my daughter. He only cares about money. He didn't confirm an appointment and she didn't go - she forgot to follow-up. After a conversation he agreed to not charge she the $75 cash fee and agreed to move on. She called him a few weeks later to schedule and get a prescription filled and he told hers only if she paid him the previous $75.00. She was upset and tried to explain and get him to remember that he said he was not going to charge her the past fee. He told her he was going to report her to the police for being angry. She is the one with the sickness - so I thought. A doctor so upset and lying to get $75.00 out of her? How desperate. Skip past this doctor - he just dispenses medication and doesn't care.

I have been seeing Dr. Edelman for over two years. I have had my diagnosis for over 28 years and Dr. Edelman has been my favorite psychiatrist. He has taught me how to have compassion in understanding my diagnosis. He has been helpful in informing me of studies that pertain to my diagnosis.

In my 30-years as a patient, Barry Edelman is the worst practitioner that I have ever experienced. He is "thorny" and difficult to get along with. And God-forbid if you miss an appointment, he refuses to renew your prescriptions until you show up in his office WITH A CASH PAYMENT. Edelman is downright unprofessional. Seek any other doctor before Edelman!

A TERRIBLE PRACTITIONER – Jan 14, 2020
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Edelman?
I saw Dr. Edelman for almost a year and we met several times over the course of that year. My first impression was that he did not really make eye contact or take a personal interest in the lives of his clients, but seemed okay enough. After we met several times, he continued to ask what my profession was each time. I should not have to remind him every time- this was the initial red flag. The next red flag was this: he prescribed me two medications, and when I had them filled, my pharmacist pulled me aside to tell me that these two drugs should NEVER interact or be prescribed together. The final straw and red flag was his unwillingness to refill a time-sensitive prescription. I had accepted time for an upcoming appointment upon which I asked him to refill the prescription to tide me over in the interim. As he knows as a psychiatrist, antidepressants must be taken daily or it is very dangerous for the brain. I explained that I was very busy until our appointment and asked if he cou

Unprofessional, unethical, and uncaring. – Jul 19, 2019
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Edelman?
I am writing for one of my family members who was seeing him as he was suffering from severe depression. As a professional, he should know how difficult this disease is and even going to the doctor is quite a task. Whatever the case is, you do not block your patients from phone calls and text messages as that is your only way of communication. This is very unprofessional especially for a so-called psychiatrist dealing with individuals who have mental issues or emotional issues. Someone like this should not practice and should be stripped of their license.

Dr. Edelman is extremely accommodating and makes the treatment experience into a friendly and professional experience. He is a good listener and is able to remain non-judgmental even when sensitive and controversial information is revealed. One really feels safe and encouraged talking to him. He can do some brief supportive therapy but for more in depth psychotherapy, ask him for a referral or find a therapist to supplement medication. Thank you for your work, Dr. Edelman.

He's not all touchy feely, but he gets the job done. He's not going to dig around and ask you a million questions if you aren't going to work with him, but if you start talking, he will listen and ask follow u questions. He really just wants to do the work well. He also communicates via text which to me is a plus. He was really easy to reach about refills, changing appointments, etc. I'd recommend him but remember that he is a medical doctor and not a therpist.

He only communicates via text messaging. When I texted him to move my second appointment to a later date, he responded back that he no longer wants to make anymore appointments with me, without even giving me a reason. And for that specific reason, I find him unprofessional.
