Dr. Babatunde Abolade, MD

I haven't yet seen Dr. Abolade as a parent but as a patients Father. It was a very intense life changing situation we entered into and at first I was apprehensive but he's Very caring and informative.

This Doctor has treated several members of my family and is notoriously rude. My mother's doctor recommended she stop taking the meds he had prescibed her because they were causing crippling anxiety. When she told him, he said, 'well maybe she can be your psychiatrist, because i am no longer treating you', then hung up on her. Someone with this attitude has no business in the healthcare field. Demeaning and talking over your patients, or refusing treatment because you can't handle another professional making a medical assessment and discontinuing the meds you prescribed is quite frankly worse than unprofessional, it is ridiculous. I encourage everyone who has had similar experiences with this man to come forward and post about it. I am disgusted that someone of this much influence in the health community has this type of attitude.

I’ve struggled with mental illness for many years and I never got the help I needed until I got treatment in 2022 from Dr Abolade. He first seen me when I was pregnant (first visit, same day I went into labor haha) he was compassionate and listened to how I felt and knew exactly what I needed. Almost 2 years working with him and I haven’t felt better. I’m so thankful I found this clinic, and doctor.

He is a compassionate and communicative doctor. He really helps his patients in his practice.

Dr. Abolade has helped me greatly with nagging depression and ADD through medication and counseling. A lot of the low ratings I've seen seem to be from drug seekers who are angry because they weren't able to walk in and get a prescription for a controlled substance. Dr. Abolade is a compassionate, sincere doctor who will help those who need it, and people trying to fool him are seen through immediately.

Dr. Abolade provides excellent care. He listens and provides coping techniques to increase the ability to live daily life. Would and have recommended to others.

Dr. Abolade is great! He understands my health concerns and his treatment plans work to give me the quality of life needed to function in my everyday life. I don’t feel rushed and we can pick up where we left off at every visit like we had just spoken yesterday. The staff are professional and helpful.

I was diagnosed with ADHD about 10 years ago and looking to get back on a treatment plan. Dr. Abolade prescribed me Vyvanse (at my request) for 30 days BUT did not believe my diagnoses enough to continue prescribing further and asked that I be tested in Tuscaloosa (3 hrs away) all in my first visit. When I called him asking for a testing site in town he became offended and dropped me as a patient altogether. I was fine getting tested but I felt it was a bit much requiring me to go somewhere half way across the state when, surely, there are places here in town (the capital). As well, he wasn't confident in my diagnosis and required testing YET was ok prescribing me a drug I had never taken--again all in my first visit. I find all this concerning coupled with the fact that as a psychiatrist and doctor he dropped me as a patient rather than inquiring on my wellbeing, understanding my requests of another testing site, or politely explaining why things had to be done this way.

First time I have EVER felt so compelled to review! Staff-terrific. Angel- compassionate. After discussing my feelings of depression, Dr Abolade said I was too great a liability and he doubted my intentions and sincerity in seeking medical assistance. I was told, "there are plenty of other MDs who will see someone like me". I have no drug use nor a criminal record, etc. I'm an Army spouse, mother, and professional. Disgusted and alarmed that he has a license in mental health medicine!

Horrible. Told us to send our son back to his birth mother who abandoned him when he was 2 because his problems were all because he didn't have a mother instead of working with us to help our son. He was later disgnosed by another REAL psychiatrist with an Autism Spectrum disorder.

I found Dr. Abolade to be the opposite of the other person's review. He spent time with me, never hurried me, and he made notes in my file without making me feel like he had checked out of the appointment and was no longer listening. He helped diagnose my illness, and he tweaked dosages and changed medications as needed until the right combination was achieved.

He is absolutely the worst I have ever taken my daughter to. He wants to blame the parents instead of working with the parents to come up with a solution. On my last visit he told me to get a second opinion and that appointment was a waste of time. Then said he wouldn't give my daughter her refills. His nurse wound up doing this for me. He is awful and insensitive. Do Not subject yourself or your children to this person!!
