Wish I had chosen another surgeon
Had numerous complications but surgeon never showed any remorse and kept blaming everything on my own tissues.

Emergent Tripple Bypass
I cannot say enough about Dr. Karim. He is extremely intelligent, kind, compassionate, and an overall fantastic surgeon. We met him at Northside due to my husband having a heart attack and needing triple bypass surgery. From the first moment we met him he made us feel confident in the procedure and put our minds at ease. His understanding of my husband's athleticism and the recovery process that would face him was superb. If anyone is reading this that is in need of a cardiothoracic surgeon I highly recommend Dr. Karim. He has it all skilled hands, intelligence, the ability to explain things to you in a way you can understand and a great bedside manner!

Dr. Azad Karim is a gifted cardiothoracic surgeon, who exceeded our expectations. He performed a triple bypass, corrected afib in tandem with a third procedure that also works to prevent strokes. He met with our family before surgery for over an hour and showed us images of the heart and explained specifically what would happen during each step of the surgery and what to expect after the surgery. He was very patient and kind, answering all of our questions and honestly addressing our fears. My husband's surgery went better than expected. Immediately, after surgery, Dr. Karim made the effort to talk with our family and again answered all our questions. He then checked on my husband and walked us back into the Cardiac ICU so we could see him before the visiting hours ended. We are grateful to Dr. Karim and all the wonderful professionals at Mercy General, who worked to give my huband a second chance to be with his family and live a nornal healthy life.

Open heart
I was scared when I read the reviews here about Dr Karim but when we met him he was so kind, explained everything especially the risks of an open heart surgery. My farther had 4 blocked arteries, operated Tuesday and his recovery went well. His bedside manners are excellent, no God-complex attitude whatsoever. Would very much recommend him.
