I never leave negative reviews but after being left to wait nearly two hours in the waiting room, his failure to review outside scans ororder any new ones, and complete dismissal of my pain and very visible disability, this provider deserves folks to know what I experienced. He does not fulfill the oath he took to 'do no harm' by sending people in pain to the curb with absolutely no recommendations even when they were referred by another respected doctor and clearly have a significant orthopedic injury that requires his skills for surgical repair. The staff were also just as rude as he was by failing to advise me of delays and being completely obnoxious when I respectfully and patiently inquired every half hour to 45 min. Seek care elsewhere and do not waste your time here.

So Happy!
I traveled 2500 miles to have my surgery in New York and my daughter who is in the medical field did her research and found Dr. Segal. This Dr. truly was amazing! He took his time to explain everything in detail & reassure me that my total hip replacement would be fine. True to his word I am able to walk again without the excruciating pain I had been experiencing. He is a gem!!

Total hip Replacement by Dr. Segal
My name is Greg Scaccianoce and I have had both of my hips replaced by Dr. Segal. At 49 years old, I decided to have the first surgery because my quality of life was worsening. The surgery was successful and after only two months of recovery and rehab, I was cleared to return to all normal activities. That included playing competitive softball twice a week and golf regularly. This year, at 56 years old, I had the second hip replaced. If the first surgery not gone as well as it did, I probably would have put this off. However, knowing how well the first surgery went and how competent and professional Dr. Segal and his staff are, I did not hesitate. As soon as the second hip became problematic, I called Dr. Segal right away. This surgery went as well as the first, maybe even better. The operation was performed on February 21st, 2024. By mid April, I was back playing golf, softball and my new hobby, pickleball. Do not hesitate to call Dr. Segal if you are considering surgery.

Beyond Happy
There are not enough stars to rate how happy I am with Dr. Segal's care. He is the only hip specialist not afraid of my past medical history. Dr. Segal put me at ease as soon as we met. He very confidently adapted my realm of care. From pre-op tx; which hospital he felt would be best, the procedure & post-op care. He did my 1st hip replacement, WOW, what a relief. I couldn't wait for him to do the other one. I am beyond grateful & blessed to have Dr. Segal in my life, which he literally saved! If you are looking for a very skilled & knowlegable Orthopaedist who listens attentively, answers your questions honestly, addresses any concerns & who truly cares for your well-being, then look no further. I highly recommend Dr. Segal. A plus is that the office staff, NP & PA's I have had the pleasure to interact with were friendly, helpful & caring Accessibility by phone when I've had questions or a concern were much appreciated Thank You!!!

Excellent experience with both hips
I was referred to Dr Segal by a neighbor and initially went as a courtesy having already chosen a surgeon. After meeting with Dr. Segal's office staff, RN, PA and then Dr. Segal himself, I knew he was the surgeon for me. Had my left hip replaced in 9/2020 and my right hip in 01/2023. Everyone that I have referred to Dr. Segal has also used him and been extremely pleased. Not only a great surgeon, the entire experience was smooth.

My joint replacement and aftercare
Dr.Segal is a wonderful surgeon and a caring person. He performed a total knee replacement and recovery was very quick. 7 years ago I had the other knee done by another doctor and it’s still not right. The two experiences were like night and day. I am so grateful to Dr. Segal.

Dr. Segal is a fantastic surgeon and a really nice person to have a conversation with. He listens to your concerns and explains everything in detail. I’ve had 2 total knee replacements and all went well and I can lead a pain free, productive life. I would highly recommend Dr. Segal!!! He also treats foot, ankle issues, which I had a problem with. I’m fine now, following his advice, etc.

Dr. Segal has had no contact with my wife since her surgery. He has had a PA (Physician Assistant) see her on 4 visits since the surgery and even right after the surgery, while in the hospital, it was a PA that checked on her NOT the doctor. My wife has recently had issues with the hip, mainly blood that needed to be aspirated and pain. We went to see him but again only got to see his PA who said the doctor wanted her to get some MRI's. One of the MRI's indicated a large amount of fluid in the hip hence the reason for the aspiration. She also needed a cortisone injection in her left and right bursar due to pain. He got the results of the aspiration, his admin says on 8/10/20 but after I investigated further the lab had sent his office the results on 8/05/20. After numerous phone calls to his office assuring us we would be contacted by the doctor there have been no calls, texts, or e-mails received.

Dr. Segal is a miracle working orthopedic doctor. I had surgery on Thursday, February 13 and today the following Sunday, I feel like a new person, ready for PT and a new lease on life without knee pain and pain in my lower back and backside all caused by this knee. Dr. Segal, his office and Southside Hospital in Bay Shore deserve a 10 plus for a job well done. If you need this surgery - do it now. Once again thank-you Dr. Segal!!!!

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Segal. I had seen many other specialists who could not figure out what problem I was suffering from before I finally got referred to Dr. Segal by another past patient of his who also raved about him. I quickly and easily got an appointment with him and he was able to find and fix the 2 difficult and unique problems I had quickly and with ease. He is so knowledgeable, kind and patient. He has an incredible way of making you feel comfortable, confident and at ease even when facing something difficult. Intake and post-op he is hands down the best doctor I've had (I've seen well over a dozen doctors in the same specialty and have had 4 surgeries with other doctors). I really can't recommend Dr. Segal enough!

Dr. Segal is fantastic! My experience with him pre, post and during my THR was nothing less than perfect. He has a great way about him which provides a level of comfort that is second to none. I've had both Posterior replacement and now anterior replacement and the procedures cannot compare when it comes to recovery. I would strongly recommend Dr Segal to anyone considering THR.

Dr. Segal is an amazing surgeon, and a warm, caring and knowlegeable physician. During the initial consult, as well as post-surgical follow-up appointments, he patiently answer all questions and does not make you feel rushed. If you are considering hip replacement surgery, I strongly recommend that you consult Dr. Segal. You will not be sorry. I had bilateral hip replacement surgery (anterior approach) in July 2016 and I am still amazed at how well I am doing and how quickly I recovered.
