Dr. Athena Sotus-Nawar, MD

I'm honestly devastated that Dr. Athena moved to Savannah. I've had an incredibly hard time finding doctors over the years that would listen and understand my litany of issues: autoimmune, genetic, chronic pain, mental struggles, etc. She was one of the first I found that truly listened to me and made me feel understood. We worked through a few meds to find appropriate meds for my anxiety, ADHD, and insomnia and were soon going to work on my depression a bit more as my duloxetine was no longer working quite as well as it once had. The only problem we had was when she moved to in office only and I struggled to make some of the appointments, having to miss one I was going to have to wait almost 2 months for the next open appointment (at the time) and I panicked and made an appointment with someone else which was SUCH a horrible idea and I never made it back to her due to her move. I'm only just now 6 months or so later finding a provider that understands and listens even a fraction.

been a patient of Dr Winders Savannah GA location 19 years. This summer he moved on. Today i met with Dr ATHENA SOTUS-NAWAR. Never in my life have i ever felt more judged by a psychiatrist. I felt like she didn't like me or respect me in any way. im not sure what her specialty is but it's not friendly. i've been seeing psychiatrists since before she started her career over 30 years. Nawar should not be assisting patients in Savannah. She does not care for any questions regarding billing. When asked about any extra charges at the very start to our meeting her response was one of contempt. She told me that she would be adding an additional code 994.21 onto my account as an additional cost for the meeting. Nawa would not tell me what that code represented or how much money that code represented. i told her it was $180 regular visit but she would not tell me what the extra dollar amount would be. This is at the start of the meeting, the first 45 seconds of meeting her.

She understood what I needed, and was very responsive when I had questions or needed refills.

Excellent provider and very responsive. Went above and beyond to help me, even when insurance issues occurred.
