I have been a patient of Dr. Alem for 10 years. She is extremely competent and thorough. She is versed in the medical disciplines related to nephrology and can give sound advice. She is very trustworthy, knowledgeable, attentive and thorough. I like the staff and find them also quite competent and friendly. I would recommend Dr. Alem without reservation.

She "seems" compassionate during routine office visits but she does not respond to phone messages or letters for kidney or blood pressure related medical Issues and her staff can be very rigid, even nasty. She was unwilling to consider other existing medical conditions when making treatment recommendations. When I gained 10 pounds of fluid in 10-11 days and not urinating for a day and a half I could only get an apt by getting my PCP to call her and I had been a patient of hers for years.

Clinic requires three years of labs, one year of chart notes, and referral for an appointment. This is such a burden that it's near impossible for someone with complicated medical history to make an appointment given all the leg work to make this happen.
