Great Doctor
Dr. Arif, was kind and professional. She listened to what I had to say, understood my history and was able to get me in for the necessary tests weeks before my current gastro could. She was very thorough and explained everything to me.

She is very unprofessional and leaves the room often to answer calls and talk to people. Also NONE of her staff is certified to work with patients. They are kind, but are not trained in the medical field.

I went here a few years ago because I had developed sever acid reflux. Immediately she put me on Omeprazole and then did an upper endoscopy with no testing prior to the procedure. The procedure was not fully covered by my insurance and was never told so I got stuck with an over $1500 bill. On top of this she found nothing wrong with me in the procedure, laughed at me when I said stress might be a factor, and proceeded to keep.me.on Omeprazole for almost 2 years. My symptoms started coming back so I went to a new doctor. Well because I was on Omeprazole for so long, I no longer had good bacteria in my stomach. My new doctor tested my blood, stool, etc and found I had SIBO really bad in my small intestines. I had to go on antibiotics, while also taking heavy probiotics to improve my gut health. These gut issues only developed due to being on Omeprazole. Only then did they do an upper endoscopy and found I had a hiatal hernia, the cause of my reflux which Dr Arif somehow missed. Don't go.

I agree Doc was unpleasant to say the least, went to her for an endoscopy and was told everything was normal, and she took 2 biopsies while doing the endoscopy, if I didn’t hear from doc then nothing on biopsies! Went for a second opinion at Albany Gastroenterology and they informed me that the biopsies she took indicated I had celiac disease, have had issues for 2 years and this doc never informed me of this even though it was in her records! Completely dissatisfied....

Very nice but she doesn't use current technology to view a patients current testing results. It seems she's all about the co-pays....constantly had us coming back without any results......

The staff was great besides the doctor herself. I really appreciated the urgent visit I got. But Dr Arif Asma was VERY rude and unprofessional. She did not listen to me at all. I went In for extreme persistent stomach pains and nausea and vomiting. I lost 8lbs in a week. I left with nothing but an appointment for a colonoscopy and endoscopy in a week and nothing to make the week long wait less agonizing. I was treated like the problems I came in for were a joke. I was very disappointed with the “care” provided and do not recommend this doctor.

Girlfriend consults her for reflux and recently had a new procedure to monitor her reflux. The procedure causes her extreme discomfort for a week and a half to the point where she couldn't swallow. My girlfriend was also told to taker her meds per usual by a nurse (i was there when she was told). When My girlfriend got her results today the dr. said that no one told her to do that and it skewed the results. On top of all this this, this doctor has been nothing but apathetic and demeaning to her.

My sister had a colonoscopy with this Doctor. She was in so much pain during the procedure. This is completely unacceptable . The Doctor could have had her medicated more for comfort. It was such an awful experience for her. Then this doctors spent all of 5 minutes with her after. Never apologizing for what she went thru. I've worked in the O.R. This should not have happened. I wonder how she would feel at the other end of the scope...
