Disrespected as Patient
Had a meeting with Dr. Gandhi to discuss treatment options. She scheduled this appointment despite not being my oncologist and then proceeded to tell me my primary oncologist (who she works with) was wrong about everything and a BMT would be my only treatment option. This occurred before any testing to see if I would need a BMT.Dr. Gandhi also told me three months before this appointment that they had started the search for a donor should they need to transplant, but I came to learn that the search still has not started (2 months post-appointment).Overall very rude bedside manner, and I am not sure what to believe about what she says.

Dr, Gandhi Saved my Life
I am in the fifth year of treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Had a stem cell transplant in March 2021 and a second transplant (DLI) in September 2023. Dr. Gandhi and the incredible people at OHSU guided my full recovery. Humane, exacting, and honest, Dr. Gandhi is just the right person to care for this blood cancer.

Treated Disrespectfully as a Patient
Telehealth
Had a meeting with Dr Gandhi and her team on the phone. The first meeting we were rejected a bone marrow transplant because my husband's caregiver (me) can not drive due to a disability. Every type of solution we came up with was not enough for her and her team. At one point I got so frustrated I said, ' I guess he's just a a single person.' She responded back with a shocking cold 'that just won't do!' We came into these two meetings not knowing much about about Acute Myeloid Leukemia. We thought that these meetings were to help us come up with an after care plan, but instead it was like well show me what you have. Like we were blind and had to guess what they wanted rather than them being honest and telling us what they wanted. I've never met a doctor so cold. We were crying at one point We have another meeting in person that we insisted on. I don't understand the cold treatment. We did not experience anything like the other reviews on this page. How can that be?

Most of the time we don’t get to pick our Doctors. At OHSU they have panels of experts who meet to discuss your care. It’s really a team effort and I couldn’t have asked for better care than I got.

Dr Gahndi has overseen my bone marrow transplant for AML. I have never felt more cared for in my entire life. Her attention to all the small details of my care has really stood out to me. Nothing is too small or insignificant to be checked out or investigated. When I walk into the clinic at OHSU I feel like I’m walking into a safe zone where nothing can harm me. Dr. Gahndi is down to earth and easy to relate to. My treatment has been very demanding both physically and emotionally. I really can’t say enough about my care. I am in remission after about eight months with no signs of cancer at the moment. Really can’t ask for more than that.
