The problem is Laureate Medical
I like Dr. Mellits and his primary nurse. Both are personable, provide good care and spend sufficient time on both the exam and the discussion during a visit. But... the front office staff offer a cold reception, seem to be put out by any request, and are clearly focused on one thing above all others - checking your insurance! The lab techs (X-Ray, blood work, EKG) walk into the exam room barking orders, like a "please" or "thank you" would cost them their bonus. It's really the most off-putting experience imaginable. I have been a patient there for a long time and ended up with Dr. Mellits after the doctor I originally selected moved out of state. It's gotten to the point now where I'm just going to go looking for a new physician because his support staff can't be bothered to remember that "care" is a key element of the healthcare profession.

Have been a patient of Dr. Mellits for nearly 20 years. Very thorough work ethic and not afraid to challenge bad lifestyle or behavior. I will never forget he virtually saved my life by insisting I have a dermatologist look at a spot on my chest. It turned out to be early stage melanoma I was able to treat surgically. Highly recommend him. He is our entire family's GP.

Upon retiring Dr. Mellits was hand picked for me by Dr. Bernard Palay, one of the founding members of the practice know today as Laureate Medical Group. I have been a patient of this Group for over 52 years. I find Dr. Mellits to be very experienced and personable, laid back and yet calming, and an excellent listener. I have referred family members, friends, and clients to him and will continue to do so in the future.
