Almost caused me lifelong damage
After reading me my scan and telling me I was not qualified for surgery, Dr Kwon tried to rush out the door. I had to call out as he was leaving in order to ask him some questions, which he answered insufficiently in a clear rush to leave. His suggestion for pain management, cortisone shots, eventually lead to nerve damage and bone and cartilage loss if done for too long, according to my PCP. Dr Kwon told be nothing about this. He told me, a 23 year old, that cortisone shots could be a long term pain management solution with no suggestions as to the cause of my pain or how to eventually stop it at its root. Had I listened to the advice of this Dr, my condition would only get worse and worse. I was shocked and appalled at what terrible advice he gave out after such poor bedside manner.

Very Satisfied Patient
I went to Dr. Kwon for work on my lower spine which had degenerated. He and his team operated on me in January 24, 2024. Now in May of 2024 I am back to work running my kayak rental and guide service, which is vigorous work) with no pain. I would advise anyone with a bad back to put their trust in Dr. Anthony Kwon. Great doctor
Dr. Kwon is very personable, kind, friendly, professional and attentive. He listens well and addresses concerns and questions. He is very thorough and explains the surgery well. My back pain is considerably improved and I wish I had done it sooner. I highly recommend him.

I first visited Dr. Kwon with lower spine pain which affected my abilitiy to walk any distance, even to my mail box. After trying physical Therapy and no relief Dr. Kwon operated on L1,L2 and S1 with fusion. Hardly any pain after surgery and now I can walk as far as I like. Terrific bedside manner and a Great doctor who really cares about his patients.

Three years ago Dr. Kwon performed my lumbar spinal fusion. He always took as much time as was needed to discuss my condition and answer all of my questions. He had been recommended to me by another surgeon. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing an orthopedic surgeon.

Dr Kwon operated on my back for scoliosis and a protruding disc . Believe you me, I always knew that I would , at some point , probably need surgery , but I tried everything possible over the years to keep myself going . When I saw Dr Kwon I just knew that I could trust him completely . I am six months out of surgery and doing amazingly well . What a satisfying experience this has been. He is wonderful . I am 75 years old and practically pain free . D. Krohn

Dr. Kwon did really well describing the procedure in pre-surgical consultations and just prior to starting the procedure. I was able to leave the hospital just 24 hours after the procedure began, and my pain has been managed well as I recover. I had an L5-S1 posterior and anterior fusion with screws. I’m already able to walk around, albeit gingerly, just a couple of hours post surgery. I would recommend him to anyone suffering from lumbar pain that hasn’t responded to conservative treatment.

Had surgery about 6 months ago and doing great. I had full confidence going into surgery and he did an amazing job at explaining what to expect and what he was going to do. My wife and I felt totally at ease. I got the recommendation from one of the Charlotte Hornet players and I can see why they all go to him for back issues. As far as the staff, they were generally nice but the wait times could be long. I did see PAs at some visits, but Dr. Kwon was always available. Highly recommended

Dr Kwon and P.A. Steven performed spinal fusion on my 13 year old daughter. I would highly recommend both of them. Before surgery they were honest, comforting and thorough explaining the surgery from beginning to end. The results were amazing. Dr Kwon was meticulous with the placement of the rods and screws. My daughter went from a 63 degree scoliosis curve to a single digit curve. We could not be more grateful and pleased with the results. Post op care has been wonderful as well. Would highly

I had an 8-level spinal fusion and another member of my family had a 2-level fusion, both done by Do. Kwon. Our results have been fabulous. Our backs are fixed. Our back pain is gone. We both have found Dr. Kwon to be one of the most patient, informative and nice people we've ever known. While each of us were in different hospitals following our surgeries, both staffs had lots of praise for Dr. Kwon and very favorable comparisons over other doctors.

My first surgery a few years ago was a much different experience than recent one, both successful. Dr Kwon was present at each visit, I was well prepared and everything went smoothly. With the 2nd surgery, I saw PAs, and with the exception of Steven, the visits went poorly. I was completely unprepared for the surgery, what would happen, what to expect for recovery. Pain management was poor and has delayed the recovery process. I have felt abandoned and ignored over legitimate concerns post-op.

I had to wait 2 months to see him, but I was very happy with the results. I am pain free 3 months out a major reconstructive surgery and back to playing golf. It doesn't hurt that he is spine surgeon who treats all the hornets and many pro players.
