This doctor is in my insurance network. I was given a referral & showed up on time for my appointment. After completing all of the initial paperwork, I presented my insurance cards. The front office look at me as if they were mortified. The staff told me I could not be seen because they do not accept my secondary insurance. I offered to file myself, but they refused saying now that they knew I had the secondary insurance I could not be seen. Despite speaking with them at length they refused & told me I would need a new referral for another doctor. I have absolutely never heard of anything so ridiculous.

I had a great first appointment with Dr. Patel and his staff. They were courteous, respectful, kind, and professional. I didn't have to sit in the lobby for an unreasonable amount of time before being seen. Dr. Patel is a straight forward Dr, which I really like. I have no complaints whatsoever.

Dr Patel prescribed me a med that required a Prior Authorization through my insurance. After 30 days of waiting and 2 notices from CVS regarding the PA, I called and they said they don't do PAs because they don't call insurance companies, they don't like to wait on hold. They said that my insurance was my problem and that I needed to call them and explain why I needed the meds. (BTW that's not how things work with PAs) Needless to say I'm no longer going to see him. If a medical professional refuses to advocate for their patients with insurance companies then they're not doing a HUGE part of their job. Im a nurse, and Ive worked in clinics, including GI clinics, and we always did PAs for our patients. Find a doctor that WILL go to bat for you, I am.

Dr. Patel and his staff have been excellent. I've been to see him numerous times for my liver and other routine procedures. The care, compassion and professionalism he has shown me is hard to find in a doctor these days. I would not want to see another doctor for my issues.

I've had Crohn's Disease for 17 years, seen several doctors, and have NEVER had such a poor "doctor's office" as this! I should have known immediately when walking in the door for my first appointment. His door, then the waiting room makes it clear that NO CHILDREN are allowed in his office. I wasn't told this and had my daughter with me. I was given dirty looks by the staff. I also was already on medications before visiting him and Dr. Patel agreed I should stay on them. When it came time to get a refill he wouldn't do it though. He said his office didn't have time to authorize that medication with my insurance. The staff was very rude and told me I could fill it myself! I was told on at least three different occasions that I would be called back and never was. When I called to follow-up they were rude and said they didn't have any notes to call me back and that they were a very busy office. Dr. Patel was very dismissive during my visits as well. Not recommending this office!

After being a patient for nearly 10 years at age 42 and a one-year old diagnosis of inactive Barrett’s Esophagus (BE), it was decided I should have annual endoscopes. After 1st annual check/biopsy and not being contacted with results, I called them only to be told there was no evidence of BE (as if theyd never diagnosed the condition before in the first place) and I wouldn’t need a recheck/endoscopy again for 5 years...??? I explained that I was nervously anticipating the results of the biopsy because of the diagnosis by the doctor there a year ago and I was perplexed by the fact that they didn’t even seem to know what I was taking about. At that time, I decided it was time to do my research and find a reputable GI doctor, perhaps even in Nashville, and scheduled an appointment with one there that i plan to switch to permanently. Terrible customer service and relations and made me pay a $25 fee for and refused to fax my records to new doctor. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!
