Immense gratitude for Dr. White!
I couldn't recommend a better doctor! In total agreement with many of the other glowing reviewers here. Dr. White's genuine kindness and professionalism were the best. I had met with a few other surgeons before him and they were all a bit too pushy. Not with Dr. White. He listened with a caring calm presence and used all my data to create a plan to fix my stenosis. Instantly, I felt better having him on my side. He said my legs would feel better the day after surgery, and he was right. I was very apprehensive because I'd never had a back surgery before, but he was able to reassure me and make me feel more comfortable. 3 months now post op and I feel like I never had an issue. Pain completely gone in my legs and back. I wished I hadn't waited so long. I haven't been able to run in 7 years. That's all going to change now. A million thank yous and immense gratitude Dr. White!

Recent Spine Surgery at NE Baptist
After years of near debilitating back pain, I was fortunate to find Dr. White, Head of Spine Medicine at NE Baptist in Boston. He performed my back surgery at NE Baptist in January 2024. Without question he has given me a new life! He is a caring, empathetic physician who listens carefully to the patient and provides a clear diagnosis and process moving forward. The surgery was performed without issues and my recovery carefully watched over by Dr. White and his team. It's been 10 months since my surgery. I just went through my final checkup to make sure all was as it should be, and I couldn't be happier about the results. As I mentioned earlier, I have my life back! If I found Dr. White earlier in my life, I wouldn't have had to spend the last 10-15 years limiting my activities and dealing with the constant pain. I highly recommend Dr. White and NE Baptist Hospital for anyone who suffers from spinal issues. Outstanding doctor! Outstanding care!

Our Dad was suffering greatly from severe Spinal Stenosis. We met with Dr. White who was highly recommended to us. From the moment we started the consultation, we knew my Dad would be in great care. Dr. White was very professional and it was obvious that he knew my Dad*s medical history and with his vast expertise had a plan to help him! Day of surgery ~ My brother and I were informed each step of the way pertaining to the sequence of events that would happen until my Dad entered his recovery room. Weeks and months have flown by and my Dad has done everything Dr. White has asked of him (Attending follow up appointments, walking, walking, walking and the Physical Therapy and exercises recommended by Dr. White.) My Dad is now back to walking, driving and moving about. (Prior to this surgery, our Dad could not walk more than a couple minutes or less before he had to sit down due to dire and extreme back pain). We are extremely thankful for all the hard work, education and training that Dr. White went through to become a Surgeon. Because of this, he made a huge difference in my Dad*s life. We are forever grateful and thankful that Dr. White is my Dad*s Surgeon.

Technically good but emotionally deficient
I'm told that technically Dr. Andrew White is the best spine surgeon at Beth Israel hospital but socially is not very good, I fully agree with both statements. After surgery I was left with significant pain in my left leg after more than a year post surgery. All he can say is that the surgery is fine and I should lose weight and exercise, despite my weight being the same as before surgery but the pain is much much worse. I tell him that I'm unable to exercise because of the pain and his response. Just keep trying. If you are considering spine surgery I suggest that you reconsider and evaluate how bad you think you are. I thought it was worth the risk and how wrong I was. Because of this the rest of my life will be filled with moderately severe pain. Dr. White is done with me and finding a doctor to take interest and try to help me is very very difficult. They are all interested when you are considering surgery, they are all disinterested after a failed surgery.

I would highly recommend Dr. White for any surgery
Dr. White has performed 2 separate surgeries on my back. He listened to me when other doctors refused to help me. He did a fantastic job fixing the pain in my back. It’s sometimes hard to find a doctor that will take the time to listen to you. It’s harder to get them to believe you. Dr. White is one of those doctors who listened and believed me and took a chance to relieve my pain when others didn’t seem to care. I highly recommend him to anyone with back issues. His staff is also very helpful.

Knows what he’s doing!
Simply stated, Doctor White gave me my life back. Yes, I had debilitating sciatica down my right leg that became unbearable after many years of on again, off again severe pain. Doctor White performed decompression surgery with spinal fusion which has completely eliminated my pain! Yes, I highly recommend this doctor with no reservations whatsoever. Go ahead with confidence and trust this man. I’m forever in his debt. Thank you Dr. White!

Spinal Stenosis Great Outcome
Im 75 years old and developed pain from spinal stenosis at L4 - 5 Dr White and his very able assistant Julia Kurker diagnosed my problem and recommended surgery Before the surgery I was miserable. I think of myself as sort of stoic but the pain was enough to bring tears to your eyes. The first week after surgery was painful as expected. But then the pain of the surgery faded. Six months out I am essentially pain free. My back feels great. Dr White was very patient and thorough in explaining my condition and what to expect. Five Stars! Tom W. Cambridge Mass

I was in SEVERE pain due to a herniated disc hitting the sciatic nerve. Dr White performed a discectomy in August 2021 and my pain is completely gone. From initial consult to post surgery visit Dr White was a pleasure to deal with. He took the time to fully explain my situation and how the surgical procedure would correct it. He was very kind and compassionate. I recommend him without any hesitation. He gave me my life back !

In the summer of 2020 I was in excruciating pain due to sciatica. In October Dr. White operated on me and it was nothing short of a miracle! Since my recovery I have had zero pain, not even a twinge, whereas before it was an eleven on a scale of 1 - 10. He quite literally changed my life! Kudos as well to his recovery team and staff. Barbara Drottar was amazing in my follow-up appointments, very knowledgeable and encouraging, as well as Carol in the office. I highly recommend Dr. White, he is an extremely gifted surgeon.

Dr. White performed a L3-L5 Laminectomy on me to relieve debilitating spinal stenosis. I’ll admit I was utterly terrified of having (my first) major surgery. Add in a raging pandemic, and there really wasn’t too much chance you’d find me in a hospital in June 2020. But there I went, and Dr. White delivered on his prediction of a 90% chance for significant relief of symptoms. He filled me with confidence at our first meeting, and to this day – and probably forever more – I relish claiming he’s “my doctor”. Confidence, competence, and results, that’s what Dr. White will bring to your situation. Don’t suffer and put off surgery for 15 years like I did. Consult with Dr. White and be prepared to proudly proclaim that he is your doctor, too.

Dr White has done 2 surgeries for me, a laminectomy and a spinal fusion due to fracture. I was petrified to have spinal surgery because I had never known of anyone having just one. I am convinced that had I not broken my back, the laminectomy Dr White performed would have been all I needed. Even after the spinal fusion, I feel so great that I forget I've had the surgeries! While I certainly don't recommend injuring your back, if you do, I highly recommend Dr White for your repair! I was pain free before leaving the hospital. I feel better than I have in years. Thank you Dr White and staff!

I was referred to Dr. White after a frustrating 3 years of pain management, steroid injections and physical therapy while my symptoms only worsened. Before him I went to 2 neurosurgeons who essentially told me to wait and continue to bear the pain and and growing weakness in my arm. He examined me and my MRI and came to the conclusion that I was a textbook candidate for an ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion) I am now 3 months post-op and I feel like a brand new man. I have been cleared to begin PT and even play golf. I can;t wait to be able to play with my daughter again pain free! My only regret is that I didn't find Dr. White 3 years ago!

I went to Dr White after my physiatrist told me I would need surgery for my spinal stenosis, which was pinching a nerve and causing pain in my leg. I went to Dr White based on a relative’s recommendation, but chose him to do my surgery based on my extensive research on this and other sites. After Dr. White did a lamenectomy and fusion at L4/L5 my leg pain was gone, as well as the arthritic pain and stiffness in my back. I couldn’t be happier with result, and with Dr White and his staff!

I can do nothing but heap tons of praise on Dr Andrew White and his staff. My back surgery from beginning to end went better than I had expected. It was managed beautifully from all my questions/concerns before surgery, to the hospital stay, to going home and to the follow up visits. I wish I had done this sooner.
