Caring Surgeon but slow
He was a great surgeon he explained the surgery extremely well and was super patient with questions and gave thoughtful answers. The issue is my initial referral to him I sat in the office for almost 35 minutes without anyone telling us when we would see him. Then a nurse practitioner came in Jodi and was nice did an exam. Then we waited another 25 minutes for him to come in. It was so frustrating and ridiculous nonetheless we scheduled the surgery. Every year post op I have had to wait 30 mins to an hour in the exam room just for the fellow or NP to ask me some questions. Then another 15 mins for him to ask me the same stuff. You should never treat patients like that our time is just as valuable. Glad the surgery was a success but the tardiness is inexcusable.

He was kind, courteous, did a thorough job explaining. Office staff was very nice. Surgery went beyond smoothly. He wasn't overly clinical. He did not make dire statements and he took the time to calm down a freaked out wife

In 2010, Dr. Wagner removed my cancerous prostate via laproscopic surgery (minimally invasive, using a coputerized camera). He managed to spare one of the two nerves, making it possible to have orgasms. Ever since, my PSA scores have been 0. I recommend him most highly.

Dear Doctor Wagner: Well 7 years ago when I was told by my doctor that I had a right renal mass on my right kidney. I went on the internet to find the best urology surgeon in Boston. Your name was at the top of the list, I made the decision to go with you for my operation, renal mass which was cancerous. You removed the mass and told me the cancer did not spread to the kidney. After 6 years of follow up it has not returned thanks to your medical knowledge and surgical skill. You saved my life.

I used an insider connection that identified Dr. Wagner as a top guy for my radical prostatectomy. My results exceeded my most optimistic expectations. Foley for one week, two weeks of a couple small daytime spurts then fully continent. Too soon for results on impotence. Everyone in his group was obviously part of a team that he had created, well-trained and focused. Dr. Wagner talks about his prostate guys, you get that he is deeply involved in their well-being. Disclosure: employee of BIDMC
