Liar Liar Liar
Lied to me and blew me off. Didn’t even try to help me. I had a sports injury in my shoulder. He said it was just a little swelling and it would be better in six weeks. It’s a year now and I still can’t use my right arm. How could one injury that happened one day be just a little swelling? And why is it that a year later I’m waking up in the middle of the night in pain and still can’t use my right arm? And I could tell from the way he even delivered the information that he was lying and could not have cared less. Liar liar liar. I really couldn’t hate anybody more than I hate this guy. Liar liar liar liar liar. Hope you get treated the same way by somebody when you really need them. You have no business being in the medical field.

The 30 second patient visit doctor
Maybe he has great scientific knowledge and as such should pursue scientific research. However, when it comes to patients, he doesn't listen, has already made up his mind before stepping into the exam room and treats patients like pests he needs to sweep out the door as fast as possible. I have had several visits with the doc and never met a more condescending medical professional. Needless to say, never again will I step through his doors, as I will find a different doc to help me with my severe medical issue. And for what it is worth, I do have a background in the medical field, so I am not just an ignorant helpless walk-in patient who has no idea how orthopedic exams should work.

Great expertise, not great delivery
I had a consult with Dr Mahoney recently and I found him to be very knowledgeable. I don’t doubt the accuracy of his assessment, nor his expertise or his recommendations. The issue that I had was his manner with me as a person. He came across in a very patronizing, condescending manner - bordering on disdain. I left TOI dismayed not just by the diagnosis, which was not what I had hoped for, but also with how I was spoken to by Dr Mahoney.

Felt rushed and brushed off.
This is my 3rd visit to Tucson Orthopedic about my shoulder and elbow. This was my first time seeing Dr Mahoney. I saw his PA Knox twice before and I felt I was listened to and given some advice and he gave me some paperwork with exercises to do at home but unfortunately I’m not sure if I’m doing them correctly because of pictures and instructions not clear. Dr Mahoney took a cursory look at my X-rays said things look good, did a quick physical assessment of just my elbow; pressed here, asked me to push against his hand etc then said everything checks out. I said but dr it is interfering with my activities of daily living. He says just monitor what you can and can’t do and don’t do that. I told him I’ve never had these problems growing up and he said it happens with age. I felt dismissed as I have since being on Medicare. It’s as if we don’t exist or not worth their time. He couldn’t operate so he wasn’t concerned about trying to make things better for me. PT would have been nice.

I was very impressed with my visit. Mahoney and his assistant was very professional. I was in alot of pain and they zoned in on my problem very quickly. I was impressed that he used the x-ray I brought from my primary Dr. I was given a shot for my shoulder and immediately no pain. I would use him again.very professional. Even my husband was impressed.

I had seen Dr. Mahoney for my original rotator cuff injury about a year ago. Was very satisfied. Don't wan surgery and he is not pushing it. Received a cortisone shot. Last one lasted over 6 months. Hopefully this one will last as long. Very satisfied with him and his staff.

Dr. Mahoney operated on my broken wrist in 2016. Due to the severity of the break, he installed s titanium plate with titanium screws. I had absolutely no issue with my wrist once it healed. There is no pain and its strength is back to normal. I am now being treated for pain in my left shoulder from bone grinding on bone. I get a steroid shot when the pain becomes problematic. Dr. Mahoney and I have discussed a shoulder replacement later in 2022. I would not have anyone else do the surgery.

I saw Dr. Mahoney for a followup visit after surgery. I was wisked back 5 min. Before schedule. Had sutures removed and then was greeted by Dr Mahoney with his usual broad smile. He was very good at explaining the surgery and what to expect regarding the rest of the recovery process. Thank you for caring Dr. Mahoney!

The Dr was pleasant and attentive. I was able to explain my situation. I on my own purchased a brace. He didn’t mention one but it’s eased my pain. He said no arthritis but that’s not what I went in for so I’m not sure how to grade that.
