Extremely Disappointed
After interviewing Dr Hanzlik for cataract surgery, I was impressed by his friendly manner and knowledge. Because I was impressed I let him talk me into upgrading my singlefocal lens that Medicare pays for to $4000 trifocal lens that I had to pay out of pocket. I am 75 and needed better eyesight to find a job. This operation wiped out my savings but to have the promised results I felt it was worth it.However, the results have left me with more problems than solutions.Unfortunately, this site does not give enough room to go into all the details but here is the outcome. After over a month, even though the first lens seems ok, the second lens is throwing my sight off. It is blurry and I constantly see a mass of black dots. There is a constant battle in my brain deciding which eye to favor. It leaves me exhausted. More importantly, being upsold $4000 with has left me with unacceptable results

Love this physician and practice
I knew from another family friend just how good this physician is! He has taken such good care of me and I trust him 1000%! Yes, wait times xan be lengthy, butbthat is because he is so good at what he does that he is highly sought after. My eye care is worth a wait to have excellent service and care. Have patience for the best care!

First and last visit
Long wait for appointment, long wait in office, not welcoming nor friendly staff, I am required to pay $1 per page to get a copy of my report. the physician from Advent, who referred me was not not sent a report either and would have to send a records request to the office to get one. I’m concerned that the results of my visit landed on Duffier since no one has a copy of it.

I called to see the doctor for routine check as I have previously had a torn retina. His office pushed his PA for the appointment who decided to give me an eye exam, which she was unable to complete that day. She had me come in a second time to complete the eye exam and wrote a Rx that NO LAB was able to fill, nor could they recommend a lab to fill. His PA called to request that I come in for a third exam. Uh, no thanks.

Believe the 1 star reviews. He is very, very rushed. We nicknamed him roadrunner. Pushed cataract surgery before required and pushes most expensive lenses. Wound up with macular problems that can't be corrected. Don't do it. Find someone else.

I saw Dr. Hanzik after I lost vision in my eye, my appointment was early morning and ended up waiting hours as he walked in the door several hours after my appointment time. He was extremely rushed, did not wipe down instruments before placing my face on them, and did not wipe them done between me and the patient he ushered in after me during the covid pandemic. He looked at me and said I probably had optic neuritis due to MS, when I was shocked and asked if I had MS he glanced at my records, said I did not have any lesions but probably had it due to MS or because I was going to develop MS. He prescribed low dose steroid drops, which do not treat optic neuritis, and told me it may or may not come back and rushed me out of the room. Dr. Mehu Patel had to pick up the pieces and explain the origin of optic neuritis, and was baffled at his explanation of MS and his treatment, and come to find out, Hanzik never even examined my optic nerve properly or did field of view testing at my appt.

If you’ve got 2 hours to wait, go ahead & make an appointment with Dr. Hanzlik. Personally, I have a life & no patience for an unprofessional office. Overheard front desk comment about triple booking appointments. What? That is unacceptable & explains the LONG wait. The staff is nice & tries to keep up with waiting room. Found I liked them better than the doctor. I’ve had eye exams many times & don’t understand why staff is doing the Dr’s job. Yes. Staff’s doing tests that the dr should be doing. Again unacceptable. My other eye drs have done these tests, not a staff member, who has no true training as an optometrist, optician or ophthalmologist. Plan on seeing the staff longer than the dr. Never again. There are other ophthalmologists in the area, so why waste your time here. Don’t care if he has a good surgical reputation, there are other eye surgeons who do too. I found a better surgeon & office. This doctor’s office reputation is lousy. Not his staff. The doctor himself.

Dr. Hanzlik has managed my vision for about 4 years. He did my cataract surgery. I find him to be a exceptional professional. He has a passion for eye care and his patients that is to be admired. His follow-up with my cataract surgery has been very good. I do not think he overbooks so much as gives patients as much time as is needed.

He has a history of overbooking. A 9am appointment may get you to see the doctor around noon. He has been a no show twice with no warning- just a note on the door to call a number. He is the only ophthalmologist at Advent Celebration Hospital and I'm sure not going to drive to his other office in Davenport only to find a note on the door. Most important part of a job- SHOW UP!

Total waste of my time. Went there 3 times for red/itchy/watery eyes over a two month period. Did not see the doctor himself until the third visit and he repeated the same exams that his assistant did during the previous two visits. Treatment consisted of eye drops with no improvement between each vist. Checked eyes for everything except for problem being experienced. Here I am 6 months later with the same problem and looking for another opthamologist.

Dr. Hanzlik is the best! My wife has had cataracts treated by him and when she has gotten eye exams for glasses, the Optometrists, always remark how great the surgery was for her eyes. I also think he's great! He's been giving me eye exams for many years now!
