Awful experiences with this PCP
Dr Angel was my primary care doctor for several years when I lived in Somerville, Ma. Every single encounter with him made me feel awful and ashamed. Impatient, dismissive, and rude. Struggling to quit smoking and slightly overweight, several of my visits pertained to breathing difficulty and esophageal issues. “I can’t help you. Lose weight. I’m not a therapist. You’re being too vague.” This man was such a belittling and unhelpful person, I don’t believe he should work in any customer-facing role, let alone as a healthcare provider.

My experience with Andrew Angel has not been a particularly positive one. Dr. Angel gives clear indicators that he has little remaining interest in patient care, via his lack of warmth, sympathy, and understanding. He comes across as apathetic, and has a poor bedside manner. When he would speak with (at) me, it would be common for him to be dismissive and snide. Most often, Dr. Angel would be unprepared for my appointments, and unfamiliar with my charts or health issues. He would just "wing it" I write this not as a jaded former patient, but as someone who wants to share my personal experience with Dr. Angel. I'd like those looking for their next healthcare professional to make to make an informed decision. Boston has some of the best doctors, practicing in some of the best hospitals in the world. It is not necessary accept Dr. Angel's resignation to mediocrity, or any doctors for that matter This is just my experience. I hope this provides pause enough to reconsider.

This man clearly doesn't care for what he's doing, or knows what he's doing frankly. I was told to come to his office for an evaluation for a psychiatric recommendation. Not only did he tell me that they didn't have anybody who could see me (which they could have easily told me over email), but he asked a grand total of 5 questions and even told me to do what I had already been doing. Pretty rude, not very knowledgable, and honestly, I left the hospital in a worse position than entering it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I called Harvard Vanguard Medicine looking for a Doctor since I just moved to Boston. Dr. Angel spent 10 minutes with me before saying I need to go straight to the ER. Turns out I had a fever/the common cold which cost me 1300. Before I left Dr. Angel's office I asked him what I owed and he said "you owe nothing just go to the ER" Fast forward 2 months later and his office is saying I have 1 week to pay 400 dollars or they'll send me to collections. Dr. Angel is an unethical MD and I don't recommend him, he has lost his passion for this career and should not be permitted to see patients.

I write to you as a past Patient of Dr. Andrew Angel who says do not use him if you care about your health. I went in to see him on two different occasions complaining of shortness of breathe and minor chest pain over a period of about 18 months. He did a quick overall of my health and said everything was ok. I gave blood to check my cholesterol and triglycerides which was flagged in their system and he failed to notify me. I had a heart attack two weeks after my physical with him. Buyer beware.

Dr Angel has been my PA for decades. I believe he has developed a strong MD-patient relationship so that he thoroughly knows my history, but also my personality as to how it affects our discussions of my health. Never hurries through a consult. He has been completely responsive to any needs, made positive suggestions that have made a difference in my life. Excellent communication skills, and a dash of good empathy. Never pushy, always open and thoughtful.
