This doctor is misunderstood by many patients because he is no-nonsense, meaning he does not like to entertain speculation (which patients can sometimes do without realizing, even with the best intentions) regarding symptoms and conditions. Doctors that have a lot of experience already know what is and what isn’t and so, they may seem brusque but it is because they are confident in their judgement and assessments (which are also usually accurate). This doctor is like this but if he really thinks there is something wrong, he will not ignore you, he will listen and run the necessary tests, and he will follow-up even if everything is normal. He has a very direct manner (more so than would be understood in the United States) but he’s not negligent and won’t abandon a patient. In my experience, this doctor has been knowledgeable, reliable, and ethical, which are qualities that matter more than niceness when it comes to one’s health.

First time I told him about my pains and balance issues he wanted an MRI. Knowing that MRI’s don’t show everything and that I’ve gotten them previously with no diagnosis other than concussions, TBI, seizures/stroke, and nerve damage. I asked him what if we don’t see anything. He said, we’d go from there. Next time I come in I asked him if we can do another exam that can give more concrete answers. I also told him how I’ve been recently in car accident and how my mouth has been tingling. I told my pcp who told me to ask Nuero for a scan on jaw because it would be harder for insurance to take it from a pcp. So, I asked this Dr. In response, he put in my chart to all of my doctors that I should no longer be treated for anything because I need a different insurance because I was in a car accident; even if things had nothing to do with car accident. He then said I don’t have anything neurological and said I don’t need to come back. Terrible. I’ve been needing a Nuero to constantly follow me since 2017 because I’m in a wheelchair with the above factors. What kind of nerve does he have to tell me I don’t need a Nuero? Is he a real doctor?

Dr. Strizhak is arrogant and unhelpful. I only scheduled with him because it was the earliest neurology appointment I could get in the NYU Langone system. He laughed at my concerns and dismissed me in under five minutes. Horrible experience.

Horrible.
If I could give this man 0 stars, I would. When he walked in, he barely greeted me and flung himself into his chair where he spread his legs, reclined backwards, and crossed his arms and asked “What’s the problem?” in the most lackluster manner. I was so taken aback by his awful demeanor that I wasn’t able to discuss the problems I came in for in their entirety. He told me that what I was experiencing was not a real phenomenon. He did the briefest neuro exam I have ever seen performed and told me that I was neurologically normal, even though I told him my symptoms were episodic in nature. He then told me “I don’t know what to do with you. Go elsewhere.” He decided to cover himself by ordering an MRI “just in case you have an aneurism”. This man is cold, rude, and dismissive with the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced.

Terrible Demeanor
Weirdly abrupt manner. Immediately reacted toward me with the most indifferent, annoyed, and quarrelsome behavior. I've never experienced anything remotely like this from a physician.

Horrible
June 2022: He spent less than 5 minutes with me and I drove hours to be there since I’m not from NYC. He could not of cared less. His demeanor was almost as if he was annoyed to be there. Told me there’s nothing wrong with me and recommended I see someone else. NYU should have a large pool of talent to recruit from for doctors?? If you’re here because your discouraged about your health because of this doctor - there are other neurologist and you’ll find the help you need. Have hope!!

Disorganized, rude, unprofessional On July 15, 2021, I had a terrible experience at this office. My appointment was at 7, I got a call at 2 and the person said to come in earlier because the doctor has to leave, she asked me to come in at 4:30. After one hour of waiting, I asked how much longer and they just said I have to wait my turn. I realized that people coming in after me started going in. After 2 hours of waiting, I asked why people coming in after me were going. The receptionist said my appointment was for 7 and so I had to wait till 7. I told her someone called me and asked me to come 4:30, and she said no one called me and she has no idea what I was talking about and very rudely told me to wait till 7. I had gone to this appointment because of migraine, and I also have chronic back pain. After 2 hours of waiting, I had severe pain again, and I left. Then 2 days later, they sent me a copay even though I never saw the doctor. This was terrible experience. Very unprofessional,

I saw Dr. Andre Strizhak in summer of 2019. He dropped and slumped into his chair like a surly teenager before asking me what I was doing there. My referring doctor insisted a neurologist read my MRI and he adamantly refused to even look at the disc. He told me to walk a straight line and then condescendingly said I "definitely don't have anything neurological". He's only had positive reviews for treating Parkinson's and epilepsy. If your neurological set of symptoms or condition isn't "interesting" enough, he'll tell you to go home. He speaks Russian and most of his patients are Russian speakers who don't the have the choice to see another doctor. I'm 2nd gen and and am grateful I have the choice.

I sincerely do not understand how anyone could consider him a decent doctor. He is the most condescending, rude, obnoxious doctor I have ever interacted with. Apparently, not understanding the reason for the questions I had about my symptoms was enough of a reason to not answer...any of them. I have never heard the words "I don't know" come out of a doctor's mouth more times than with this one. It was unbelievable! What exactly was I paying for? I did not go in with the "well I googled this and that" and "this is what I think it all means" attitude. I went in with a curious mind, and really wanted to understand how my symptoms worked and what caused them. I could have had a more reasonable conversation with a brick wall. He asked me to walk up and down the hall just so that he could tell me that I walked fine. Well, obviously! I never once complained about walking. He couldn't even tell me what he was checking for. Horrible, HORRIBLE doctor. He is a complete disgrace to the medicinal i

My son said that the doctor was out of his mind" when he learned that Dr. Strizhak prescribed melatonin for my headaches. After the headaches were gone for good, i realized that someone else was out of his mind. It was the doctor who treated me with prednisone for 5 years. Dr. Strizhak is a true professional!

I was treated for epilepsy for years. Finally I was told that I needed a surgery. There was more to it – I could have problems with speech after surgery. I went for second opinion to Dr. Strizhak. Initially I was frustrated because he insisted that I’d come back only after having a list of every single drug I’d ever tried. His efforts paid off well. I take just one medication and not a single seizure for a year by now! I am very thankful to Dr. Strizhak.
