There are issues with his continued maintenance of psychiatric education. This is my opinion based in part on working for the Florida Department of Health under Rick Scott prosecuting people who were poor health care practitioners. I encourage all to look at the issues Kaiser Permanente has faced regarding unwillingness to provide psychiatric care or maintain standards in mental health care - issues such as the APA letter in California and the government issues that occurred simultaneously. There are issues that Dr. Patel admits not having very good knowledge about - issues that well regarded international conferences were held in Baltimore about, with day long continuing education - I suggest you ask about the current state of his knowledge and whether he attended continuing medical education regarding. He is very polite in interactions, which means you will receive polite care that may not be safe. Kaiser Permanente has a number of issues in psychiatric care, and this is incredibly problematic because forcing people with psychiatric issues to abandon Kaiser Permanente would save the company money, but in a form that would encourage all health care providers to race to the bottom.
