Dr. Jhaveri is very kind and knowledgeable. She took time to explain everything to me and answer my questions.

I was appalled at the treatment of my best friend under the care of Ami Jhaveri. I went to every visit with her but one until she found a new oncologist she could trust and who cared about her health and well being. I feel compelled to write this negative review after seeing a 5-star rating for every LGH/Penn dr on their own website that they claim are based on dozens, if not 100's, of reviews that are all one or two sentencescthat say the same thing. There is no way 174 different people found Ami Jhaveri "caring" or "trustworthy". I knew after one visit that my friend would have to find a different oncologist. For one thing, Zhaveri contradicts herself constantly and when pressed for further explanation, she would get visibly angry and say some pretty nasty things, while denying that the patient heard her correctly. Not ironically, we recently met another cancer patient who had the same problem with her. Dr. Jhaveri is all about the money.

I have never reviewed a doctor, but this cannot go unsaid: I did not choose Ami Jhaveri as my oncologist for breast cancer. She was, literally, foisted upon me through a series of misadventures. But her communications and social skills were so bad, that by the time I finally extricated myself from her, I didn't care whether I lived or died. It was that bad! She explained nothing, does not listen, and would constantly contradict herself and/or other professionals on the team. Asking for further clarification only made her more defensive or angry or she would spin it and claim she never said this or that, or that I just have a bad memory, etc. It takes a special kind of doctor to make a cancer diagnosis even more scary than it already is, but Dr. Jhaveri is way too high maintenance for any patient to have to contend with. The lack of compassion or empathy was bad, too, and only exacerbated her inability to understand how important communications are. I would not recommend her to anyone.
