Dr. Amanda Thorson, DO

Dr Thorson from day one of switching to her care has helped me keep and thrive this pregnancy. I had a lot of demands and birth wishes and she made me feel at ease that she’d do everything she could to help me meet my goals. I never felt rushed at appointments, she explained things very well as I’m a first time mother and didn’t know anything about what to expect. She was working at the time we went into the hospital but wasn't on call at the time I was about to deliver but came in so early in the morning to be there for us anyways. It’s because of her I had all my birth wishes come true with no pain medication, no complications and no tearing. She’s very experienced with high risk pregnancies, keeps a calm demeanor and isn’t pushy which is why I chose her.

Dr. Thorson truly cares about her patients. My pregnancy had complications that she explained thoroughly. She always made time to answer my questions and concerns with thought and empathy. I have also never felt rushed during clinic appointments. I can’t speak to her treatment of nurses referenced by the previous reviewer. I haven’t seen anything inappropriate.

Dr. Thorson was the on call doctor who delivered my baby. I had never met her before as she is fairly new in my doctor's office. While she was very kind to myself and my husband, she was incredibly rude to the nurses and it made everyone in the room uncomfortable. She undermined them and argued with them in front of us. The mistake she made here was doing this in front of the patient. It's one thing to ask for something to be done a certain way, or to disagree with the nurses about something, but that should be discussed respectfully and in private. Those labor and delivery nurses work so hard for us laboring moms, and the last thing we want is for a doctor to come in and make them feel less than. If she can figure out how to interact with the staff in a more respectful manner I think she has potential to be a great doctor.
