Dr. Alvin Detorres, MD

I've been a patient of Dr. DeTorres since my Meniere's Disease diagnosis, and I can't recommend him highly enough. He is patient, truly listens, and stays up to date on the latest treatments. Finding the right approach took time, but thanks to his persistence and expertise, we finally landed on a treatment that has practically given me my life back. I am incredibly grateful to him. That said, the office staff at ENT & Plastic Surgery Associates leave much to be desired. Scheduling an appointment is a challenge, and frequent mistakes and miscommunications—likely due to inadequate training or incompetence—make for a frustrating experience. Despite this, I continue to see Dr. DeTorres because his care is worth the hassle.

Simply the best.It's rare to find a doctor in 2024 that cares so much and gives the kind, patient, thoughtful, friendly, honest care Dr. DeTorres provides. He's a graduate of Leesburg High School (right here in Lake County, Florida) - I completely trusted him and he did not disappoint. His bedside manner is first rate. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. DeTorres!

I can not say enough great things about this man. I am intimidated by doctors so it is hard for me to ask questions. Dr. DeTorres was patient and made sure all my questions were answered before my surgery. My surgery went well and he even came in on Saturday morning to make sure my discharge was taken care of and that I was doing well. In the past, I have had the surgeon's AP come in to do this 'grunt work'. One complaint I do have is that the staff at the office isn't great at returning phone calls. I had to call the surgery scheduler 3 times to finally talk to someone and get my surgery scheduled.

Dr. DeTorres was kind and considerate of my situation. He was patient and explained everything thoroughly. He also provided next steps and scheduled a follow- up appointment. If you’re having trouble with your ears, I highly recommend Dr. DeTorres.

I went in for treatment for Tinnitus. I told the doctor I had adverse reactions to nasal sprays before (Bleeding and loss of sense of smell). Doctor recommended nasal spray again with knowing my previous reaction. I took a steroid spray for 4 weeks and by the end of it developed a lot of problems that has not gone away even after 3 months. Called the doctor's office and they recommended me see a different doctor at their office. They also said their allergy clinic would call me (never did). I called their allergy clinic a few times and never heard back. Tinnitus never improved from nasal spray that was recommended. Still have the Tinnitus, and now I have other problems added.

Actually met Dr DeTorres for the first time at the hospital. He performed a mastoidectomy among other things for my son. A top not surgeon!! Had the nurses call in the waiting room to let us know surgery was going to take longer than planned. After a six hour operation he came out, took his time and explained exactly what he found and had to do…INCREDIBLE bedside manner!! Less than 10 hours after surgery he was back at the hospital to check on my son. When my son experienced some complications after coming home….he retired our call in just minutes!! Top notch doctor we are blessed to have him!!
