My cardiologist sent me to see Dr. Montanez in February of 2018. She reviewed the tests my cardiologist did but did no additional tests. She determined that I needed a pacemaker and insisted on scheduling an appointment ASAP. I got a second opinion from another EP, and he did an electrophysiology test. From that, he determined that I did NOT need a pacemaker. It's now September 2023, and I have had no problems. If I had followed her advice, I’d have a device in my chest that I don't need.

All is well
In 2018 Dr Montanez performed a cardiac ablation on me as a 61 yo male to treat A-Fib. 5 years later I have not had a reoccurrence of A-Fib. My outcome has been significantly better than many of my friends who used other physicians.

Dr. Montanez urged me as a 24 year old male to move forward with an ablation procedure in order to treat SVT. I was young and very active playing sports at the time. During the procedure, Dr. Montanez inexplicably damaged my crucial AV node. Two days ago I had a permanent pacemaker implanted that my heart is now 100% reliant on due to the damage from that day. I am now 30 years old grappling with the realizations that not only has my life changed forever, but that years have been potentially taken off of my life. Alicia Montanez holds some culpability in this along with my ill-advised choice to heed her advice 6 years ago. I had very few SVT symptoms at the time of the procedure, and in looking back, the decision to move forward was obviously a huge mistake. I have family and friends who are living healthy lives with SVT. Do not make the same mistake I did.
